UPenn ED Class of 2022 Discussion

Realistically what are your chances of getting in if you get deferred to the regular pool ?

Honestly, it’s not like they use a roulette wheel to determine if you get in or not. It all depends if you are a good fit or not.

@ayakobi26 @swanfactor where did you learn all this information about the admissions process? Is there a link or website I can go to ?

@rosaliefontaine One officer evaluates the academic component and the other officer reviews the non-academic component. I read that this has allowed the officers to make decisions within 4-10 minutes.

@ptvnicorn http://www.thedp.com/article/2016/11/new-team-admissions-strategy

There are other articles out there that give additional insight.

Kind of crazy to think they make a decision in 4-10 minutes on an application we’ve essentially worked on for the past four years.

@ptvnicorn I spoke to an admissions officer this month when I was on campus who told me all this.
@trakk123 From what I heard from an admissions event tailored for ED applicants: they want to reject or accept everyone. They won’t defer someone who they don’t want at Penn (aka they won’t keep you on the hook for no reason). If you are deferred, you are definitely still in the running and they either a) didn’t have enough spots or b) want to see your senior grades.

you too my friend!

@DelilahRhodes no way! nice

@pennplz who knows, we may even know each other hahaha

Is anybody else on here applying ED from Montana?

Has anyone contacted their regional officer? Should we? Idk what I would say that wouldn’t make me sound weird lol

can someone chance me
1530 sat (800 math, 730 reading)
800 in chem, math2, and ush
Science Club president
Student gov vp
other small positions
Decent extracurriculars (started many volunteer projects)
USNCO participant, National Merit Semi, other small regional/school awards

But I’m an asian male. Applied to CAS

@lucianlover77 No GPA, The most important factor.

Unweighted- 4.000/4.000
Weighted- 5.45/6.000
Top 3%

You have high stats, and have good chance as long as your EC and other aspects of your app are good. There are so many Asians with high Stats. Best luck!

Can someone chance me? I’m a white female with legacy, my mom donates about $500–1000 to Penn every year.
my strengths are my writing/personal statement (both Common App and supplement are very strong) and extracurriculars. Weakness is math–I took calc BC junior year but my teacher was terrible so I basically had to teach myself, and I really don’t like math

(Applying to the CAS–possible PPE major)
SAT: 1520 (760 math, 760 English)
ACT: 33
GPA (unweighted): 3.92/4
GPA: (weighted): 4.54/5
Subjects:
Lit–720
Math 2–710 (another weak point)

Interview went really well, I’m still in contact with the person who interviewed me. It went for an hour or so.

Extracurriculars:
Captain of XC team, 4-year state qualifier, 2x All-Star in my local news
English tutor for adult immigrants (outside of school)
President of Earth Club–got recycling bins installed in the lunch room, petitioned to install refillable water filters in our school (we got them last year)
Vice President of Community United to Educate Youth Club (Diversity advocate in elementary schools, teaching kids about other cultures/accepting one another’s differences)
Member of intersectional feminism club
Camp counselor for individuals with special needs

I’ve taken all honors and am in 5 APs this year (AP Bio, AP Lit, AP Comp Sci, AP Spanish, and AP Psych)
Scores–
Calc BC: 3 (definitely my weakest but oh well, it was the best I could do)
Stats: 4
AP Environmental: 4
Lang: 5
Macroeconomics: 5
Microeconomics: 5

i’m sorry if i sound rude but, there’s no way you can get an accurate “chance me” through here… we aren’t the ones who make the admission decisions, and your application is already in. just wait until decision day guys :// we’re all equally anxious

anyone from the Philippines…?

@krispythehuman You look like you have a good shot. If you put together some great essays, don’t worry too much about AP Calc/Math 2. Good luck!
