UPenn ED Class of 2022 Discussion

@anyexreita 1450 is not low - it’s middle 50 which is competitive and if u have a competitive gpa then u have a good chance. Don’t be so down.

On Black Friday I was looking on the penn bookstore website and it said that the cutoff date for ordering was 12/8 for the shipment to arrive by 12/15 (not 100% sure it was 12/15 exactly but around there). But now I’m on the website and the “Holiday Shipping Guideline Notification” says the order cutoff date for standard shipping is 12/15 to get your order by 12/22. maybe I’m reading too much into this but it’s probably bc of the large influx of orders they’ll get on decision day soooo I’d guess the decision date really was moved from 12/8 to 12/15

Anyone from Questbridge going to ED to Penn?

@anyexreita exactly; that’s the point of his post. while his satire may be a bit inappropriate for this thread, he’s mocking the concept of chance me’s, which i also think are ridiculous and self-serving. we all know there’s a large element of luck and subjectivity in the admissions process, so humblebragging your profile in an effort to gain praise and validation really isn’t helpful to anyone. in my opinion, it’s one of the most annoying things about this site, and he was making fun of it.

With a school as competitive as Penn, everyone (even if you have a perfect SAT/ACT score and GPA) cannot be sure they will get in. It’s a roll of the device and situation of circumstance. It depends on many things out of your control (like how many people applied/they want from your area, school, major, etc). Only thing we can do now is wait and hope for the best.

Guys did Penn ask for your first quarter grades? They didn’t ask me and I feel like i’m rejected already

Nope. Didn’t ask me either.

@JonEilish nope, just sent them my highschool transcript till junior year, though my grades run by semester. i believe they ask for senior grades if you get admitted/deferred

@JonEilish My counselor told me ED schools, especially ones as competitive as Penn, will ask for your first quarter grades. I just sent mine as soon as they came out so they didn’t request me for anything but who knows, maybe they didn’t really need them.

@swanfactor Exactly! You can’t guarantee admission even if you have the best of scores. Personally, I don’t have the BEST stats, however, I KNOW (I’m not saying this in an egotistical way) I’m going to get accepted into Penn based on my character, drive, and passions (etc). For someone to say it’s not realistic or “you’ll never get in” based on my [or anyone elses] test scores (GPA, etc) is such an ignorant comment I can’t stand to hear. Just know that you guys are all capable of attending Penn if you really, really want to. All you have to do is set your mind to it, and work your hardest!

I think you’re reading too much into this. I doubt that the Penn Bookstore (which is owned by Barnes & Noble) is coordinating with the Admissions Office.

The way I see it admissions are all about being in the right place at the right time with the right profile to fill a gap that the college needs to fill at that moment. Maybe I’m wrong but that’s how I see it.

@estanciam that actually makes a lot of sense…i think you’re right. I really wanted it to be this friday, though!

Penn does not require 1Q grades for ED applicants. If you are deferred or are an RD applicant, they will request 1st semester grades.

Also a lot of schools don’t have official first quarter grades (mine doesn’t). I’ve actually never heard of a school that does have them

How many ED students do you think Penn is gonna take this year?

Probably around 1350

I am a current sophomore in high school. Does UPENN recommend taking the IB or AP program?

@serendipity05 Yes if your school offers it.

I sent my quarter grades, but I don’t know if it really matters. My opinion is, I think it will stop me from getting deferred because they said they didn’t want to differ many people this year and the only way they would differ is if they needed more information and senior grades I the only “new” information I can think of. SO for better or worse they now have all the info from me and I don’t think I will get deferred
