Does anyone think if the only bad part about your application is an SAT of 1160 there is still a chance? I have a 4.0 and outstanding extracurriculars but my SAT is lagging …
@good user name Yes, a girl from my school is applying to CAS. (I am a Gaokao student, and she is an A-level student.)
More Chinese applicants are coming from Nanjing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and they are extremely competitive.
I applied ED to SEAS for bioengineering
I’m a white girl from New York so I hope that helps for SEAS lol
@stayfoolish729 damn, I really hope they don’t put a quota on the number of Chinese people they are going to accept. Also, does anybody know if Penn classifies applicants by home address or nationality?
@ilovemath1212 Me(Computer Engineering)… Best of luck!
@good user name Yes, they do. Last year, 19 of 600+ applicants from Chinese Mainland were accepted during ED and RD.
@stayfoolish729 are you aware of any such thing for Indian applicants?
anybody applied for computer and cognitive science: AI ???
@GalladeAggron Nope, this information is based on high schools’ official released posts.
@stayfoolish729 All right, thanks!
@stayfoolish729 How are the stats of Chinese applicants? Are they incredibly competitive score wise but lack leadership and sports?
@Dlo_99 uhhhh i think that’s just a stereotype
@Dlo_99 It’s a STEREOTYPE. Most Chinese applicants have both strong SAT & ACT score and ECs.
Take me for an example:
Stats: ACT 33, TOEFL 112, SAT sub: Math II 800, Physics 760, Chemistry 800, AP: Calculus BC 5, AB 5, Computer Science A 5, Physics C 5, Chemistry 5.
Leadership:I am the Vice-President of Student TV Station at my school, founder of Electrical Engineering Club and Aviation Club, Team Leader of Mathematical Modeling Team .
Projects: Air Quality Detection Drone, Audio Guide App for Soong Ching-ling Memorial Residence, Fangshan Population Relocation Plan, etc.
Sports: I am a former swimming athlete and have Black tie in Taekwondo.
What’s more important: most Chinese applicants have even more accomplishments than I have.
@stayfoolish729 Thats pretty sweet. Which part of China are you applying from?
any BBB majors out here?
@stayfoolish729 are you doing one of the 9 advanced tiers after black? BTW, did you do taekwondo THROUGH high school? That would be, like…wow.
@GalladeAggron 2nd Dan. I did it in a local taekwondo club. @Dlo_99 I am in Beijing.
hahaha i take it nobody on here is applying as an english major?
so is it more likely to be accepted when one applies for a less popular major/program?
