@jeffrandell i am pretty sure it is nowhere near a 85% chance, where did you get this figure? The program is designed to give qualified students who are within the feasible admissions range a better idea of Penn. It explicitly says that it does not offer an admissions advantage. Penn rejects many highly qualified kids every year.
Hi guys this is crazy late, but I want to apply Wharton except I’m an Asian female. My stats are good: 36 ACT, 4.3 weighted GPA, but my math subject test score is weaker (760) and I have a variety of ECs with leadership (National Honor Society-- Officer, DECA (Officer hopefully), HOSA (minor officer position), tennis captain, section leader for band, but it just all feels not stand out enough… any thoughts on my chances?
Your math subject test score shouldn’t hurt you. You’re a good candidate. Maybe ECs could be stronger but still have a solid shot. Good luck!
Hey guys! I was on here a year ago so nervous, and now I’m a Penn freshman after getting accepted ED My stats weren’t as good as they could’ve been, and I thought I had no chance, but it still happened! Feel free to message me if you have any questions or need any help with anything, I know how crazy and stressful things can be right now.
Same! Honestly going to be the longest 2 months of my life.
Any idea when decisions come out? Is it always 2nd Friday of December 3PM ET? That would be 8th December this year phew.
@vakilmohit I thought decisions always come out on 12/15
Naah. Last year Penn was 9th Dec and the year before that it was 11th Dec
Hey guys, is a 1520 SAT score enough for an Asian international applicant??? The admission office always emphasizes the “holistic” process but I really think my SAT score will work against me…
@ahahahsssaaa Don’t worry about it. It is definitely a competitive score. Their average is around 1510 I believe. I met Penn officials yesterday and they emphasized that after a given threshold it doesn’t matter (maybe marginally matters) what your score is. What are you applying for?
@vakilmohit CAS, Sociology major. I’m just afraid that their threshold for international applicants might be higher (especially among Chinese applicants since a lot of us have 1550+) Thanks for this helpful information though!
Do you know if you can be penalized for not having your rank listed? I know my rank is top 10, but my school doesn’t allow the reporting of rank. I considered just listing my rank anyway, but didn’t want to outright defy my school policy.
@h0kulani Do not report your rank. You will not be penalized if your school does not report it.
@ahahahsssaaa 1520 is right around the average. For an international student and especially an asian international student it would be on the lower side. But you are still within the feasible range for admission.
any huntsman applicants here? how r ur huntsman essays going
Hey there!
I am applying ED, but my SAT score hasn’t been released yet. It will be around 1420-1480. I have 750+ on four SAT subjects, with UW GPA 4/4. I am an international student from Egypt with sold hook in leadership, research, and sports ;and killing EC’s nationally and internationally. Do I have a chance applying for SEAS?
Wanna have from you all. Thanks in advance!
@Elhabashy What kind of ECs are we talking about? Pro athletics? Standards for recruited atheletes are very different. If they are related to your intended major, that’s great! What school system are you from? British A levels ?
@vakilmohit I graduated from a STEM system. Varsity Soccer, also awarded the 3rd national winner on Tennis table three years ago. My EC’s are focused more on leadership, mainly scouts; Initiating 3 clubs at STEM system all over the country, and leading other clubs; published three papers - one of which is with an IPHO silver medalist; made several projects concerning problems related to people and earth; many internships concerning Engineering with IEEE till I became the vice president for a university’s branch; and may like charitable activities.
Do I have a chance applying to M&T?
Impressive! I have heard that you are more likely to get a SEAS/Wharton offer if you are a M&T reject. So I don’t see the downside in applying for M&T. Your SAT scores are kinda pulling you down but otherwise I would chance you as a pretty competitive applicant. Good luck!
Thank you! @vakilmohit
