UPenn ED Class of 2022 Discussion

@Saranyaa Same story here! Are you going to try for the uncoordinated dual degree?

@HoFoThBe Wharton is the business school at Penn, and one of its four undergraduate schools (CAS, SEAS,Wharton,Nursing). A deferral from Penn means a deferral from one of the four undergraduate schools, depending on which one you applied to.

Hope this helps.

got rejected 4.0, 1570 SAT, Asian girl. :-(. essays??

@ethanrimes planning on it!

Do you guys know if Penn sends out free tees and stuff to accepted students? Will they send it if requested?

my Dear D got rejected with SAT 1540 GPA 3.93/4.0, this is going to kill her. She is a vadity swimmer and has many service hrs, is there any chance she can call admission to find out the reason?

@wingjuer They arent going to tell you

I don’t think so. But the good news is that you can order stuff online from the bookstore. Or even fanatics.com (which is actually more affordable.)

Did anyone get in for criminology

@ICA3rep00 No unfortunately. If you go to the admit weekend, I think you get a drawstring with some goodies, but nothing is sent in the mail.

@nath123 Could be the essays, LORs, or ECs. What school did you apply to? I think when they see someone with outstanding grades, they’re going to be looking at your character and leadership potential.

@wingjuer They won’t tell you anything sadly.

@FireLordAzula @aoeuidhtns I just bought a couple things from the bookstore. The thing is because I’m intl the shipping is like 60$, that’s why I asked. I’d love to go to the admit weekend but unfortunately I can’t. I’ll meet you guys in August.

@wingjuer I am sorry your D got rejected.

Remind your daughter that she is the same amazing person regardless of whether she got in. She has outstanding stats, and I am sure that she will get admitted to an excellent school.

While it feels personal to students and parents, it isn’t from the perspective of the admissions committee. They are in the impossible position of having to admit students to construct a class of 2,450 enrolled students from an applicant pool of over 40,000 candidates, most of whom are well qualified. They do the best they can, but sometimes they just get it wrong.

She has a very bright future ahead of her, and this is just a small bump in the road.

I’ve been reading this forum all throughout my application and decision process and decided to chime in. I got in with a 29C ACT, 610 French and 680 Math I. Stay hopeful people, everything is possible! Be genuine and speak about what you love! Good luck.

@intodreamschool Not everything is possible. With a 29 ACT, you clearly got in through connections or legacy.

@johnnyjay that’s not true at all. He might have gotten in because of hooks. I got in with a 1420 SAT, I’m not legacy and I’m an intl student with no connections. So yes, it is possible and I completely support what @intodreamschool said.

@johnnyjay actually I’m an international student from halfway across the world with not connections whatsoever, as a matter of fact I have no family members that ever attended college in the US. @ICA3rep00 congrats on getting in! See you next fall.

@Much2learn thanks so much!
She is better now and her next favorite school is Wustl Olin, hope she get luck at RD.

Thankss
