UPenn Essay Length

Sorry for asking this and I’m sure it has been answered before. How long do you guys think the UPenn essays should be? The “Why Penn” and the personal statement one?

Thanks.

1 page no more than that

I'm planning to type it. Around how many words?

I have a question too... should we double space the essays? And what should the heading/margins be? MLA Format?

with spacing it is up to you. one of my essays was close to 800 words if i remember correctly. you can make it small font and single spaced. just keep in mind it better all rock if it is going to be long since boring the adcoms is not going to help. length has its ups and downs, just keep that in mind.

Close to 800 words? Wow. Did you get in?

mine was about 650-700 words or so, i dont remember-but it somehow got me in....from what i hear-if the essay is longer than a page, the admins will be sure to read yours last. seriously.

Is the UPenn online application up? I keep checking the site, and it keeps saying it should be up in late August and it's September. Am I not on the right page?

Can UPenn students or people who have finished their essay post how many words their essay is?

That would be a great help. Thanks!

yup, I got in

Cool, that makes me feel better about my essay, haha.

Anyone else? How long are your guys' essays?

As of now mine are all 800+ but im hoping to cut it down significantly...

Why Penn: 413 words
Page 217: 547 words

I had trouble making these longer, so I had to use several tricks to make them look like one full pages, like margain and font sizes. I got in, though.
