UPenn Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

Hoping that my time at a community college gets me there!

Has anyone received an application acknowledgement yet?

Maybe theyā€™re waiting till after the deadline to release them.

bump

how many people got in?

Hello everyone! I am planning on submitting my application by the end of this week, I am just wondering if you guys know if there will be any application extensions not only for Penn but for other colleges? I am also applying to Columbia as a transfer, and they extended their deadline to March 13th. Please let me know! Thanks

I know Yale pushed back their deadlines for certain documents to April 10, but I think you still have to have already submitted your Common App before their original deadline.

Hi guys, is anyone having trouble fitting their essays in the common app? It seems like the word count in the common app is significantly less than what is allowed.

I did not have that issue when I submitted my common app application yesterday. You better get it done quick because the deadline is tonight. Then again A LOT of schools are extending their deadlines due to the coronavirus. I submitted my application for RIT about 10 days late and they still accepted.

Guys did anyone receive a UPENN application confirmation link email??? I submitted my app. a bit late (I know, thatā€™s bad but bc of the coronavirus the usual resources I had to complete the app on like my schoolā€™s library and my towns public library closed and i didnt have access to a computer toll after the deadline). Please let me know if you guys received the email

I did receive it. I would e-mail them and let them know. Most other universities seem to be pretty understanding about it due to COVID-19 but Iā€™m not sure how understanding UPenn is. I e-mailed them and told them that the only SAT I was able to send was one from 2005 because the SAT Test sitting I was scheduled for on 3/14/20 was cancelled due to COVID-19 and they told me that it is unlikely for them to accept me if I donā€™t submit scores from within the last 5 years.

The e-mail is applicants@admissions.upenn.edu.

Either way, I hope they are understanding about it for you.

Thank you so much wow. You even put their email lol. Iā€™m going to contact them now and let them know thanks again.

also, donā€™t be discouraged if you dont have you sat scores in time - alot of the other colleges I applied to literally have a section for you to input new standardized exam scores if you take them again. I know May is a bit late to take the sat but maybe you can take the ACT? Iā€™m sure you can have your scores before they make final decisions. I know schools like Stanford literally have closed their admissions office and Tulaneā€™s decisions were supposed to come out Sunday but they sent an email saying because of COVID-19, the decisions were delayed. So Iā€™m guessing most transfer decisions from colleges like UPenn will come later than mid-may, maybe even early June because this virus has made unprecedented circumstances and schools - just like us - donā€™t know precisely whatā€™s going to happen in the future for their offices and admissions staff

Btw, are you a veteran applying if you dont mind me asking or you just had a gap between your college years and your applying back to school now? Whichever, good luck!

No, Iā€™m not a veteran. I come from a creative background and Iā€™ve had a small creative business for the last 7-8 years doing custom lettering/font design and large-scale murals and signage. I dropped out of an expensive private art school in 2009 due to the financial crisis in 2008 and I never finished getting my degree. A really life-changing traumatic incident in 2018 prompted me to want to have a career change into law and go back to school. So here I am  And yourself? Are you a veteran?

I think they have cancelled the May SAT test as well. Iā€™m hoping they will end up taking it into consideration during the application process, but if they donā€™t, oh well.

Good luck to you as well! TBH, I donā€™t believe I have a good chance at any of the higher ranked schools I applied to, but at least I tried.

@axxj12 Hey, just sending this incase itā€™s helpful at all. If you do have a computer/tablet or other device, Charter and Comcast are offering free wi-fi to students during the crisis:

I really want to join UPennā€™s DMD program as a transfer. I had tears building up in my eyes when I watched their DMD program promo video. I know they are ivy league, but I also know I am MORE than qualified to go there. If I can post links here I would love to show you guys why I am this confident. Feel free to PM me, so I can showcase my programming and artistic skills. Anyways I have been told by their admissions TWICE that I should consider to withdraw my application due to the fact I canā€™t provide valid SAT scores. They also told me it is HIGHLY unlikely they will admit students without SAT testing. I understand that SAT score is an important requirement, and I have no problem giving them a SAT score, but I canā€™t get one in time due to the virus. Just now I was writing an email asking if I could some how waive my rights and submit a SAT score of zero in order to get my application fairly reviewed. I felt so stupid while writing that email, so I discard it. Anyways, the ball is in their court now, after countless email exchanges I have done everything I could. If I get in I will let you guys know. Good luck everyone.

does anyone know when decisions come out? i know previous years were may 15 but iā€™m worried that itā€™s going to get pushed back due to the virus.

They said mid-May and I havenā€™t heard of any changes to that. It was May 15th last year, but I also think that theyā€™re likely not to even know if theyā€™re going to push back the date this year because of how fast the situation with the virus is developing. I would say we just have to wait and see I think.

My DD talked to someone there yesterday who said regular decisions should be completed by 3/26 at which point theyā€™ll move on to transfersā€¦sounds like they are on their standard schedule for decisions. I would expect it to still be 5/15 but like everyone has said, itā€™s a fluid situation that could change daily.

I am a high school senior. I applied for UPenn ED and got deferred. I am waiting for my results from UPenn. We will hear on 26th March. If I donā€™t make it in, I am planning to transfer to UPenn! I would love some guidance for transferring

how long did it take before yall got a link to the portal

@azurepurple I got it on March 16 and submitted my application on March 15. Did you check your spam?
