Upenn Financial Aid! Examples needed! WOuld help a loT

My little sis is looking at colleges now and is heavily considering applying to Penn ED. One huge factor is financial aid, and as I look online, there aren't many examples or cases to show how good penn aid is, only statistics. If any posters dont mind disclosing such info, it would help a lot to both me and other lurkers if you post your financial aid award, along with income or financial circumstance =) only if you want to!

In my experience, Penn’s FA is generous. I applied and was accepted ED so I don’t have other schools to compare offers. Since Penn is one of the few schools that both does not include loans and meets 100% of need in their aid package, attending is quite affordable. Since my family makes less than 60K (easily) and I have sibling in college, I just have to pay a few thousand dollars. Everyone’s situation is different surely but I hope this has been helpful. Good luck to your sis bro.

I’m a low-middle income student(Family makes around 60K and I have a sibling and another family member living with me), and I’m paying almost nothing($5,000 per year) compared to the $50,000 per year sticker price.

UPenn and all the other Ivies will give you as much money as your circumstance requires.

Go to FAFSA and do an estimate. There is so much more to FA than income. Then maybe share more info…

Eh, most top tier schools will have comparable FA packages. That said, both my parents work, typical middle class family with 2 dependents, penn is only paying half the tuition and leaving the rest + misc expenses to me. Frankly, your expenses will exceed penn’s estimates for sure. It’s not unbearable, but I did have to take out a fairly large amount of student and bank loans too.

7k more than schools like Tufts, Notre Dame, BC & 3k more than Cornell (my circumstance).

My daughter’s got enough so that we had to pay just under 20.000, but Yale gave another daughter much more so she went there. (she didn’t try to get more though, so I can’t say they wouldn’t have changed it)
Our EFC was around that amount depending on what calculaltions you use and Yale like some other schools, might have counted my grad school son to some degree (he is livng home)
