Now that I’m going to Wharton, whats the best housing @ Penn?

Start writing your next essays!!

if you like lots and lots of space- mayer hall
if you like parties- the quad
if you like community- hill

Can't I just go to a Quad party from elsewhere? :|

How accurate is this information?

That description is accurate to a certain degree..

If you like lots of space and like to study a lot: Kings Court/English House

If you like a really nice social enviroment with some really down to earth kids: Hill (I'm kind of partial though cause it's where I live and I absolutely love it).. I think it mainly stems from having fairly small rooms.. we hang out in the common areas all the time

And anyway, you'll probably all apply to live in the quad.. yes it's gorgeous and apparently they party pretty hard over there, but there really aren't any parties in the quad.. All the parties are at the frat house and/or on like 40th/41st street.

Note of advice: If you really want the quad, go ahead and put 9 of your 10 choices in the quad.. but put choice 10 somewhere that you wouldn't mind living.. because otherwise you get randomly put somewhere. (I put all 10 for the quad and luckily got Hill.. but I konw pepole who ended up in Kings Court or Stoffer or stuff like that)

What makes Kings Court or Stoffer bad? :|

They're just generally known as less social dorms.. much less social.. a lot of the people tend to keep to themselves more in those dorms. If that's what you want though, then they could certainly be a good place for you to live.. it really does come down to personal preference

kings court is generally known at the nerdy asian dorm, no offense to any asians out there.

stouffer is just really anti-social. I got stuck in stouffer this year (my freshman year) and its a great place if you need to study but when you want to party or talk to people it's not a great place. however, you make the most of your social life - its not determined from your housing. I go out to parties thrs-sunday practically every week. Btw frat parties are really ****ty...if you want good parties try to get invited to some of the secret society parties (especially owls). downtown parties are awesome too, theres always one going on. also if youre an international - mostly european and latin americans - go to Monte Carlo every thursday...its an awesome experience.

yeah, I completely agree with Bern700 on all accounts.. Your social life is what you make of it.

And on the party note, yes, frat parties do suck after a while.. Owls parties are pretty good and downtown rocks. . Only problem with downtown is you usually need some sort of ID to drink (some are really strict, some pretty laid back)

thats why you give me a call when you get here... ;)
lets just say I know someone.

what's the owls, bern?
