Does applying to Huntsman and Wharton, and then getting rejected for the Huntsman program lower my chances of getting accepted to the Wharton School?

I would be happy with just getting accepted to Wharton and studying there, but I feel like my extracurriculars+history makes me a pretty competitive candidate for Huntsman… Any help?

has anyone gotten into wharton but rejected from huntsman?

Though it happens, your chances of deferment do go up.

@whartonnothyps thank you for replying. is there any data to back your statement up though? or is it something you just noticed?

I asked this question to my regional admissions counsellor prior to getting accepted into Huntsman. They read your entire profile including the Huntsman essay in their first round, decide whether or not you’re a good fit for your dual degree choice, and if they decide that you aren’t, they go put you in the regular Wharton pile where you’ll be reviewed in the same light as any other candidates.

Essentially, you have nothing to lose by applying to Huntsman. There’s only one extra essay to fill out and to be honest, it’s a damn interesting one too. I encourage you to apply and wish you good luck!
