uPENN IN ENGINEERING

IS uPENN ANY GOOD IN ENGINEERING?

or is it good coz of its Ivy status

first recommendation: don't write your application with the capslock key on. Admissions likes engineers who can also communicate using a modicum of legitimate english.

Sorry, I didnot know that I was doing engineering while I was typing in CC.

And don't talk about something thats not related to the question. Admission officers will see it as a mental disorder.

I donot plan to attend that school called UPenn.

Also, I believe you are annoyed or angry at these statements I made: "or is it good coz of its Ivy status"

if you do not intend to attend the school commonly referred to as "UPenn" then your question does not belong here.

UPenn is ranked 21 or around that area in engineering.
If it was any non-Ivy school I would have said "excellent"
But since UPenn is Ivy, I say "this school sucks in engineering".

I mean even my public school, Penn State, is ranked above that.

Yes, thats my fault.
I presume I should have asked this question in the engineering section.

the best evaluation of a school is found not solely in the strength of a particular program but also includes a measure of the general experience one will have at that school.

if i wanted to go solely by rankings i would have gone to johns hopkins BME, rated #1 in the nation.

i'm at penn BE, rated something around #7 in the nation, and couldn't be happier here.

many penn engineers do not proceed to the industry, since they are pre-law, pre-med, or even potential consultants / i-bankers. penn allows engineers to take plenty of wharton and college classes, which is an advantage not always found at comparable schools.

and to clarify: you said "I donot plan to attend that school called UPenn" and this is the forum of the university of pennsylvania, also known (and as is reflected in our email addresses) as UPenn. please be precise in your language to receive the most helpful answers.

Sorry If I made you angry or anything.

and since you are a BME major then have you heard about this:http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=222845&highlight=Biomedical

none of that is really news to any BE at penn - and we are ABET accredited, too - we are the oldest bio-anything engineering department in the nation.

so I presume it will not concern you because your school is one of the best in bio-medical engineering.

not only that, but as a pre-med, i do not intend to pursue a career in engineering (and many of my peers are the same).

what made you interested in "M.D.''

if you want more answers directly from me, it's probably a better idea to ask me via pm, because such discussion will no longer be pertinent to this topic.

I was never angry, you were just being nonconstructive.

Many of the powerhouses in engineering are public schools, so it no really a surprise that Penn Sate, which is well known as an excellent school for engineering, is ranked aboved UPenn.

Besides, it's more applicable at PSU, wheren drunken frat brothers need to come up with creative ways to tip over cows for lack of anything else to do out in the boonies.
