So, as the title says, UPenn just called me for an interview and I don't know if I should use this opportunity. I don't know what to ask or what to say because I don't really have any questions to ask. So, if I take this opportunity, what sorts of questions should I ask? If you've already had an interview with UPenn, how did it go and what did you talk about? The guy (Bill Marx) said that it would take about half an hour; is this accurate? Is it really beneficial to take an interview if offered one? And would it be detrimental to my application if I didn't take this interview?

Thanks!

While an interview may not help an applicant, I can guarantee that turning down an interview is a bad thing (unless you would have to travel over an hour or it would require you to miss school or something like that). Turning down an interview is generally seen as showing either a lack of confidence or a lack of interest in the school, and neither of these qualities would be viewed favorably.

what if i miss the call for an interview? because most of the times, nobody is in the house and it’s not like i can answer my cellphone during school hours. would they continuously try to reach me?

Well i got an email for my interview, that excuse doesn’t hold anymore then

Typically interviewers will leave a message and also try to contact you by email.

I say you should really take the interview… It can only help you application, even if it’s only a little.

Plus you should have at least some questions about Penn if you were really interested in going there. (Unless Penn isn’t your first choice lol.) Only if you have a good reason not to go, then you should decline it.

And if Penn is not your first choice, then this is a good opportunity to brush up and practice your interviewing skills for other possible top schools that may ask you for an interview.
