UPenn M&T vs. Engineering

I have always been highly interested in computer engineering since I was really little. But recently (probably since last year) I thought I was also very interested in business, especially since I joined a club called FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America). I plan to get an MBA after studying engineering in college. But when I got to know the M&T Program in Penn, I felt very attracted to it. However, I don't have a specific idea what I should do with business.

I love the idea to apply technology to people's daily lives, and I have always wanted to join or start a technology related business.

Any idea if I should apply to M&T or Engineering (and maybe MBA later)? Thanks!!!

Of course you should apply for M&T…it’s one of the most prestigious programs in the nation. How many people do you know who graduate with two bachelors of science diplomas in 4 years?

Also, there’s no drawback to applying.

AstonMartin, thanks! I know M&T is an extremely competitive program to get in, and many applicants might have strong business backgrounds. But I don’t have any. None of my family members have actually gone into business, and both of my parents are doing engineering and science related jobs. Although I know I want to do some sort of business and technology related stuffs, I don’t have a clear idea what exactly I wanna do. So I have been wondering if M&T is a really good fit for me. Or shall I just do engineering in college while taking some economics classes?

Wharton ≠ economics. Wharton isn’t even close to economics.

I made it into M&T with no business. From what I can tell, what the M&T admissions folks want is a well-rounded and sociable class of intelligent and driven students who can show interest in combining business and engineering, even if they haven’t really done stuff in either field.
