Thank you to anyone taking the time to read all this crap haha. looking forward to all your feedback

Hi!

You’re right, you do want to improve your scores to be a competitive applicant.

You also have great EC’s, but you should focus them onto Nursing and Wharton. I see the LIJ, Nursing Home, and Red Cross which would help with the Nursing portion, but I do not see EC’s that relate with the business side of Wharton. You may have some, but they’re not coming across right now.

You are good for nursing but your AP scores are not terribly competitive. Are you spending too much time on your band ECs and not studying enough for APs ? You should have 4s and 5s. Quality is more important than quantity.
You don’t need any business ECs for Wharton.

@cbreeze‌ @WhartonnotHYPS‌ Am I safe for just nursing? Is the dual program impossible for me at this point or do I still stand a chance? Do you have any advice on what additional testing I should do and/or raise previous test grades? Thank you guys so much for your time!

You have a very good chance for nursing, not so much for the dual degree because those programs are tough to get into. Honestly, a 33 is not bad, as long as your not asian and middle class. Your ECs are good especially that agape music therapy will stand out.

So overall, yes you are safe for nursing, they have the highest acceptance in all of Upenn.

@CollegeGoer789‌ I am sadly asian, middle class, and female. Does this drastically lower my chances? Should I bump up any scores so dual may be a possibility?

I guess you can take it once more to get a 34, just keep in mind that even people with perfects ACT’s get rejected from these dual degree programs. Its more about match than simply test scores and GPA.

But I’m only as old as you, so my view in this is somewhat limited. Also are you from some obscure state like Alaska or Hawaii because that will help you. The worst states are CA, NJ, and NY in terms of competition.

Sadly once again, I live in NY! Ugh @collegoer789. By the way, are you applying to these dual programs?

Hi jxoxo97! I’m a rising sophomore in the NHCM program. Your stats are within the ballpark and you definitely don’t need to have business ECs to get in! Just be very thorough in your essays and how you will couple your clinical experiences with a business acumen. Best wishes! Also, when I applied I was mostly involved with music and service organizations… so don’t worry too much if your activities don’t necessarily parallel what the dual degree entails. :)

jxoxo, I think the NHCM program will be a better fit for you given your stats. Don’t stress yourself over Wharton.

@pmsleepy‌ wow thank you so much! Are you in the dual program right now? Are there any test scores that I should bump up/ any tests that I should take to boost my chances?

Yeah! I’m in my second year right now. I think you’re fine in terms of test stats, but then again, I’m not an admissions officer. :p
