UPenn Nursing/ Wharton dual degree chances!

Hi, I’m currently a junior in high school and am interested in EDing to Penn’s dual degree with nursing and Wharton (honestly, I would be overjoyed just to get into nursing so chance me for that too!)

SAT: 2330 one sitting, taken sophomore year
CR 800, MT 780, WR 750

SATII: Chem 790, Bio 700, US 800

GPA: 3.8-3.9 unweighted, school doesn’t do weighted but all classes are honors or AP

Extracurriculars
-Track cocaptain-have been running for three years
-Editor for school newspaper
-treasurer of girls athletic association, art club, student government
-HOSA (healthcare competition) board, went to nationals and placed first at states
-interned at health community clinic
-shadowed pediatrician and oral surgeon
-first aid certification
-Fundraising charity events that raised more than $12,000 in proceeds to construct a water well in Africa for those afflicted by disease
-Volunteered at orphanage in China, honestly was an eye opening experience (is this cliche haha)
-multiple art awards, international piano award (played at Carnegie!)
-programs at renowned museums (I am also passionate about art history/art in general LOL)

props to you if you made it through this long! as you can tell by my extracurriculars, I am passionate about medicine and healthcare as well as the humanities and arts, which is why I think Penn is such a great fit, with its opportunity to take courses from different schools within Penn and the fact that Penn houses multiple hospitals directly ONCAMPUS. Anyways thanks for reading!

Ok so what are your stats ? Lol

Hi haha sorry they didn’t post before for some strange reason! it’s all updated

Nursing and business are an unusual combination. You are definitely competitive.

@TooOld4School

Thanks! Do you think the fact that I have no experience in business will bring down my app? (I do plan to take AP macro and micro economics next year)

You should consider starting a club or EC, maybe a health care investment club. Familiarize yourself with the economics of the nursing business, home health care, maybe get a part time job at something medically related. Few HS students have much business experience so not much is expected. It will give you something interesting to talk about in your essays.

Can you actually do both degrees (Business/Eco and nursing)at the same time? Clinicals requires being off campus for the entire day for multiple days per week during your Junior/Senior year. With your stats, why not medicine?

They could not be done in 4 years, even if permitted.

Yes, the program is meant to be finished in 5 years. I was considering premed but I’m not quite sure yet! I would apply to CAS in that case and pursue art history while fulfilling the premed requirements, which I’m sure is mentally demanding as well
