UPenn Nursing/Wharton Program Chances/Questions

Hi! I am a junior and beginning the early stages of the college application process. I am very interested in health and medicine. Toured Upenn and I really, really loved it. Pretty set on nursing school, plan on doing ROTC whatever college I go to. Low middle class. Definitely need sizable financial aid. In terms of biggest academic weakness I am not in advanced math, but I have gotten all A’s in high school math. If anyone can give me any insight or recommendations for the rest of my school year/senior year to improve my chances please let me know. Thanks, I really appreciate it.

Weighted gpa: 4.6 Unweighted: 4.1
SAT: 2050 (taking again in June, might take ACT)
APs: psych (5), taking bio, us history, lang in May, plan on taking physics 1, chem, lit, spanish next year
SAT IIs: taking bio and lit in May, maybe chem and math level 1 next year

Clubs: DECA (business & marketing club), drama, NHS, choir, student congress secretary, student school health liaison
Volunteering: First aid squad (2014-present), soup kitchen, local kids camp, various community fair activities

Anyone in the Nursing/Wharton program have anything to say about it? Rewarding? Difficulty? Enjoyment?

Also, I was homeschooled up until high school if that makes me stand out anymore with admissions. Probably not

  1. Keep your grades up as high as possible
  2. Try to improve the SAT score
  3. Use your summer to further demonstrate your interest in Nursing
  4. I am less sure about Nursing, but I would be sure to take a Math class senior year
  5. If you are not taking the most rigorous math because you were not at that level when you transferred in, and you were taking the most rigorous math available in your prior school, be sure they know that

This may be important in explaining why you are not so advanced in math.
