Starting a new thread for the "extended" wait list for the Class of 2017.

I got on to the active wait list as well. Is this the 100 students the original dp article was referring to?

Yeah I believe there’s a hundred us, and who knows how many open seats. Good luck to all.
Does anyone know if anyone has been accepted from the list at all?

also do we need to send anything in saying that we accept our spot on the active wait list?

No clue. Typically the rates for the extended wait list are slim. Fingers crossed.

Link the article, please?

Dear XXXX,

Thank you for your continued interest in the University of Pennsylvania and for remaining on the Wait List for the Class of 2017.

We are retaining a small number of applicants, including you, on our active Wait List. It is possible that a few spots will become available, and we want to continue to consider you for admission to Penn. We expect to know if we will extend any additional offers by mid-June.

Sincerely,

Eric J. Furda ’87
Dean of Admissions

I got on the active wait list too. This is really just 50-100 people right?

I’m not sure at the moment. Nor am I sure that anyone one gets off of this list.

From the May 4, 2013 article in The Daily Pennsylvanian:

[The Daily Pennsylvanian :: Penn sees highest yield rate since 2007](Penn sees highest yield rate since 2007 | The Daily Pennsylvanian)

According to the article linked by 45 Percenter there should be only 100 of us on the active wait list. Three people posted in the wait list for class of 2017 thread that they were accepted from the wait list. However I called my regional admissions officer and she said that she wasn’t even sure if they would take any off this year because the people in charge of yield rate and admit rate haven’t passed the information to her. I feel that if they are already creating an extended wait list this soon little to no one actually were accepted off the wait list this far

On the extended wailist, should we start a tally of which specific school? I’m for Wharton

Waitlisted too, Wharton.

Im in SEAS here

CAS.

Perhaps those posters were trolls? By no means do I want to doubt their veracity, but the signs currently point to the fact that they’re trolls.

Or they could be very very special cases. So just to clarify we do not have to do anything to accept our spots on the active wait list?

lucya01995, I don’t think so. Yeah, also a possibility.

ok awesome. i don’t mean to imply anything about the 3 who have been accepted off the wait list, but i do know of a girl from my school whose mom’s boyfriend donated quite a bit of money and she got off the wait list for UVA. to clarify i am NOT implying that this was what happened in the three cases but i’m simply stating that it COULD possibly be a possibility

@lucya01995
It could be that the three mistaken Penn as Penn state, which is a very common case in my country. BTW, Penn even sells the T-shirt with “Not Penn State” on it.
It is just my guess, could be totally wrong.

So do you really think there are 100 of us? Even still, how many kids do they expect to lose due to “summer melt”?
