protip: cornell accepts spring semester transfers

hi,
are the 23 names listed all transfer for junior year
or a mixture of sophomore and junior ?

i’d say more people apply for a spot in the sophomore class, i.e. don’t assume that “all transfer for junior year”.

ok thanks,
and is anyone coming from a non-American style university ?
(Im applying from a university in london, uk)

Does upenn require a mid semester report?

they did last year, but i didn’t see anything this year. last year penn had it’s own app and portal online. now they use the common app, so i dunno.

They require a mid-term report. It’s called “Form 4 Transfer Midterm Report” or something to that effect.

Anybody received an account to check application status yet?

i think somebody said they got an account a month or so after submitting their app, so if you submitted your app just before the march 15 deadline, don’t worry.

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you had heard/read anything about # of transfers (or applicants overall) this year at selective need-blind institutions, esp. penn.

You would tend to think that because of the economic downturn, “need-aware” colleges would see reduced apps, but does that mean apps will increase at need-blind colleges like penn?

Even though penn says they’re need-blind, would being a full-pay student increase my chances of transferring?

I’m not sure, too me, from the numbers of threads of this year compared to last year, there was a decrease. Thus from my observation, there seems to be less transfer, but according to other people who has done research on this, there are more transfer then ever. So just make your own observation. It is possible that there is more transfers applicant this year and that they are just not on cc.

If they do have significantly less applicants, do you think they’ll still admit around the same number of people? It seems that, in this economy, they would want all the money they can get. But will they want to remain just as selective?

i think we’ll just have to wait and find out.

I guess it also depends on the freshman admissions also. O_O!

I don’t think freshman admissions will impact us too much. We’re still enrolling as a part of the 2012/2011 class, so a decreased number of applicants for the '13 class won’t matter to us.

I still think it will. If, come May 1st, less incoming freshmen take up an offer of admission, Penn will want to admit more transfer students to increase the amount of money brought to the school.

With Penn’s financial aid policy, I think a lot of freshman wants to go to U Penn. lol.

Violaghost brought up a good question a while ago on this thread…do they send out acceptance letters based on admission? Like, are the first people to get their decisions generally the ones who have been admitted?

And, does Penn have a waitlist for transfers?

if i remember correctly, first wave (march 16) is strong acceptances and flat out rejections, second wave has more rejections, and third wave is mostly rejections. i think there’s some kind of waitlist, not sure on that.

damn. I’m scared.
