My superscore is 2250, my highest score (Oct. sat) is 2190, and I am retaking sat in Dec. I am a Chinese. Both Cornell and UPenn are my dream schools, and I am really having some trouble deciding which to apply to for my ED.

Other info:
SAT2 Math2 800 Physics 800
GPA 93.4/100
Some activities:
Vice president of the student union ...

I would really appreciate your comments! Thanks!!

Cornell. I hate to bring race in this but Penn has a lot of Asians, more than Cornell. If you apply to Penn, they may be a little apprehensive to add to their already 20%. Cornell is about 15% which isn’t a huge difference, but they will probably accept you more readily than Penn since their percentage of Asians is less than Penn’s. You have the grades for both, though.

Thanks for your prompt reply! But do I really have enough grades for both? I thought Chinese applicants need far higher scores than their American counterparts…

Grades and test scores are used to understand the comprehensive academic individual at these schools. If there’s a red flag in your SAT, SATII or GPA then they may scratch you out early on in the application process. But your stats are well within an acceptable zone for applicants to this caliber of schools. Therefore provided you shine out in your ECs and your essays, it’s very possible that you can be admitted.

I have similar stats to yours (just a higher GPA and lower SAT II) but I’m applying ED to Penn :)

Thanks! I finally decided to apply to UPenn for my ED. Wish both of us good luck! :-)
