UPenn or UCSD?

Hello!
I was notified that I was accepted at both Penn and UCSD but would receive a full scholarship at UCSD. I know that I want to do something premed (maybe predental) in the future and am torn between both schools. I would not qualify for any financial aid at Penn, so I would have to pay full tuition.
I loved both campuses and was wondering what would be a better choice to help me prepare for medical school and give me the best chances of admission.
Please let me know!

If you want to attend medical or dental school, UCSD is the obvious choice. You will have all the money you will save for tuition, and you want the college at which your chances are best for the higher GPA.

Even otherwise, you should think again and again before turning down a full scholarship to an excellent school like UCSD.

How do you already have acceptances to both? If penn it must be ED and therefore binding. UC announcements are not yet released.

@SJ2727 my thoughts exactly. And I also don’t believe that UCSD is in the habit of handing out full scholarships to anyone.

I would be getting an athletic scholarship to UCSD and I already got an early read at Penn.
Academically, I have a 35 ACT and am an AP Scholar.

You and your parents can pay for either college and another $400,000 or so for medical school?

The $310,000 that you would save by taking a full ride instead of paying list price for Penn would go a long way toward reducing your debt for $400,000+ medical school.

Well then, assuming this is a real choice, I would say the answer is clear. Take the full ride so you’ll have money for med or dental school.

Finance is an issue for us, but, since both schools are about the same cost, I just want to isolate each school on their education and premed opportunities without any additional factors weighing in.

OP’s other thread tonight says
“ If I get into Penn or UCSD”
and
“ Finance is an issue for us, but, since both schools are about the same cost, …”

It would help to know if it was indeed an if or a definite, and whether both schools will indeed cost the same or not, to give sensible answers.

Penn State or University of Pennsylvania (The Ivy League)?

Upenn

In post #0, you wrote that you “would not qualify for any financial aid at Penn, so I would have to pay full tuition”, while mentioning a full ride at UCSD.

So is $310,000 just a rounding error on your money?

Isn’t this you as well?
