UPenn - PhD Neuroscience

Hey All,

I wanted to know if anyone has heard anything from Upenn - Neuroscience. I'm anxiously waiting. If you've also applied and didnt hear either, please post as well. I know their website says that they have 3 weekends, late Jan thru early March. So, I don't know what to think. I emailed BGS and was told they are reviewing, so I emailed the email addy provided by Neuroscience (3 days ago) and did not get a reply. I'm hoping no news is good news.

So, if anyone has heard anything, please post it, and the dates. Last year they admitted 40 students, and no one on any site has posted anything, so I'm hoping if they invited students and were done, there would be at least one person on one of these sites who has heard/posted. crosses fingers

Thanks in advance. Sick of waiting.

hi i just came across this site. i would usually just stalk but i thought i should reply to this. i applied to upenn neuro and heard back on jan 7. they have two interview sessions on jan24-25 and feb21-22. It sounded like they had informed all the interviewees. sorry to be the one to bring bad news but i figured you'd want to know. neuro seems to be an especially competitive sub discipline and my experience has been that its really a craps shoot. there are a lot of great schools out there though and i'm sure you'll be fine.

I called Penn.

They are still reviewing apps. So they aren't done. She said that they are still coming up with their final lists of interviewees, and to expect to hear back shortly. Personally, I feel like I should get in there. I posted my stats:

Neuroscience major - Major GPA: 3.92
Cum GPA: 3.84
GRE scores: 750q/670v/6.0a
LORS: very strong
Research exp: 1 summer - los alamos national laboratory, 2 years - neuroscience honors thesis at my college, 9 months - biochemistry lab at my college, 1 summer - neuroscience lab, harvard medical school

I'm starting to wonder if they just don't put names in a hat and pick at random.
