Hey guys! I've been struggling about whether to apply to the College of Arts and Sciences or to Wharton. I'm not entirely sure what I'll be doing in the future, but I have been very active in my school's FBLA chapter (Future Business Leaders of America for those who don't know), and Wharton seems to be the best business school in the nation. However, as most of you probably know, Wharton is very selective.

My friend reassures me that if I apply to Wharton and don't get in, they will consider me for their other colleges before totally crushing my hopes and dreams. Is this true?

I think you’d have a shot for both, but it really depends on what you want to do in the future…CAS would give you the most wiggle room ( I think ) to explore the various subjects.

Oh I just meant that CAS has a wider variety of subjects I don’t know about transferring in and out of schools (just that its hard to get into Wharton by transferring) You should try posing that question on the Penn board to current students.

Well, if you were in Philly that’d help you out a lot

Nice scores Mandarinez. By the way, can high school students/prospective freshmen fill out the dual degree forms? Or do we only do them after we have been admitted and taken a number of courses at Upenn?

Well, I’ve really enjoyed my years in FBLA, and I suppose thats what has influenced me to give business a shot. Although whether it was the people in the club or a true passion for the subject matter, its hard to tell.

Besides business, I’d say that my main interest is Law, and as all roads can pretty much lead to Law school, this interest doesn’t really help narrow down any sort of focus for an undergraduate major.

But I suppose that passing up the chance to attend the best business school in the nation is something I can’t make myself do. I’ll give it my best shot, and whatever happens happens. I’m blessed to be in California with the UC system, and if Penn won’t take me, I’m fairly confident one of the UCs will! =]

Anyways, thanks for talking me through this =p

Jake, its a little confusing for me as well. As far as I can see, they have a “Dual Degree” program that undergrad students can apply for if they satisfy certain requirements during their freshman year.

However, the programs listed in the Penn supplement are ones that we apply for with our general application to Penn.
