Like many other Ivy’s are interviews informational only or do they count for anything? Can anyone on here shed some light on the interview process for Penn?
My son just received an email about an interview over the weekend which wasn’t expected because he never saw anything about requesting one like other schools so it caught us a little off guard. So, now just trying to find out whatever we can about them. Any insight would be appreciated.
Penn strives to interview most of its applicants and whether one receives an interview is entirely dependent upon alumni availability in your area.
D’s interview was a casual conversation that lasted about an hour. Your son should prepare a thoughtful answer to why Penn and be prepared to discuss his activities and why he chose them.
Consider the interview another data point. It’s a chance for your son to find out more about Penn and for the interviewer to get to know your son (and to reminisce about their undergrad years). Best of luck to your son!
Hey guys. I’m trying to submit my financial aid supplement, but I cannot seem to figure out what my Penn ID is. Does anyone know where to find this? Thanks so much for any of your guy’s help, I would much appreciate it.
Have you been accepted yet? If so, your Penn ID will be on the student portal, Penn InTouch. If you’re awaiting a decision, no worries. You can still submit documents without a Penn ID via the Student Registration and Financial Services (SRFS) online portal. You just have to enter your name, DOB, and the email address you provided on your application.
Oh, that’s interesting. Thanks for the info!!! I thought it was necessary because it was one of the sections on the document I was submitting. And no, I have not been accepted yet. Just doing some financial aid stuff requested by Penn. I really appreciate the response though. Helps a ton!
My daughter has not had a Penn interview yet. We live in an area with a lot of Penn grads so it is definitely not a case of no availability. She has had interviews with all the other schools she applied to already that conduct them. Anyone else not heard yet?
Having a lot of Penn grad means nothing. The key metric, which is unknown, is the percentage of alums in the area agreeing to be interviewers. Even then, most interviewers are not signing up for unlimited interviews.
My son received an interview with Penn real early during the ED round (He is RD). Even the interviewer was surprised he was not ED but he did apply super early. He received a couple of interviews but not with Columbia or Princeton. I think it’s just a weird year with a lot more kids applying and not everyone will get interviews with all schools.
she did get interviews with Dartmouth, Princeton, Harvard, Duke, and Cornell. Kind of weird with Penn being only an hour away that she has not received one yet!
Agreed. My son received his Penn interview in early January, right after he applied. He has also had interviews for Princeton, MIT, Tufts, Georgetown, and Yale. However, nothing from Columbia, Duke or Northwestern. He has 4.0 and a 1570 SAT.
Did your son just receive the email offering him an interview or did he have his interview yesterday? My son has not yet heard from UPenn and was wondering. I did tell him that with the increase in applications, not everyone will receive an invite but he is hoping he will still get one.
Thank you. That helps to know. I know my son applied RD right before the deadline:-) But he did the same for other schools and heard back right away, so I guess it depends on the school and the load/availability of alumni interviewers.
