@exl028 It’s takes a few clicks on a computer to get a report. Cross reference admit candidates with FA docs completeness.
Does Penn prefer/only take applicants from the bigger schools/cities in Illinois/Midwest? I did not receive the best high school education but made the most out of it, and I think that it will show to them. I just want reassurance that they will not toss my application after seeing there are only 200 kids in my high school–Only got a 32 ACT as well.
Regarding the FA, I also got the letter. While idk what the actual practice is at Penn, they say they’re need-blind and that finance and admissions do not communicate, so technically the request is meaningless. Everything is electronic now, so it goes straight into the computer’s algorithm and is quickly processed
@shemp903 The 200-student HS shouldn’t be a problem; the 32 ACT could hurt you, but it depends on whether you appear academically underserved on your application.
So if I didn’t submit my non-custodial parent’s taxes yet and didn’t get a letter that I was missing docs do I not need to submit them?
@aBitOfLuck Well, I have taken the most academically challenging courses offered, and work a job as well as play 3 sports. Also, there is a bit of extra clubs/volunteer service thrown in there.
@shemp903 A 32 is a very strong score, so it actually would probably not hold you back; I think that rural people probably are at a bit of a disadvantage, but not that much.
Overall, I think you have a solid shot; hopefully you have “a bit of luck!”
@Rafalala
“Meaningless”… You have a flawed argument. This has nothing to do with need-based policy. Even those in need have to provide proper documents to support analysis. The hypothesis at hand is whether in past years, data reflect any correlation that students who received a missing financial aid documents notification had a higher acceptance rate or not.
Those of you who received emails from Financial Office - which of the documents were you guys missing?
Also, I am an international applicant who’ve applied for financial aid as well. I’ve submitted CSS profile through College Board. Was that the only document needed for the international applicants to be considered for financial aid?
Thanks!
I also received the FA letter. However, I specifically remember sending all documents. Plus the other schools I sent the same documents to received them because they already notified me of aid. Do you think they just haven’t downloaded them or added them to my file? They say numerous times that they don’t want duplicates to be sent so I don’t want to send them again
Will they look at a 32 composite or a 33 superscore? Im worried this score will hurt me. All that was low was science everything else was high. Science is just not my forte and it brought me down.
Worried that this will hurt my app… any help appreciated
@businessg101 they do not superscore for ACT so… 32 :\
A 32 won’t be the reason you don’t get in. It is in their range of ACT scores…
Don’t sweat about it now. What’s done is done and what should be will be. Also they only look at the highest composite so the 32.
thanks
Sorry, but would they still consider the higher scores that make up my superscored composite? Thanks
How bad would a decent, not superb, ‘why Penn’ essay hurt an applicant? I primarily focused on how studying abroad develops the social skills required for worldwide business, and how my lack of exposure to business along with my desire to become more knowledgeable will allow me to utilize my professors and Penn’s supportive student body. The ideas were there, I just did not take command with the essay like I normally do. This command can be seen in my Common App essay however.
@businessg101 yes
@beaglee105 http://www.sfs.upenn.edu/finaid-checklists/checklists-pro-international.htm You may find this helpful! I found it on their website.
@mimispence You should give them a call, or email them to double check.
