Had my interview last night. It lasted about an hour and very laid back.
My interview was last night. Lasted for about an hour, wouldâve been longer but he had something going on right after. Pretty chill and laid back. He actually didnât really ask me much about the school or what exactly I like about it. I talked for about 90% of the time, mostly about my extracurriculars. He said interviews donât play a major role in the admissions process, only to weed out those kids who wouldnât fit in or are socially inept. He said I was pretty personable and I think heâll write me a pretty good report. I was surprised when he said he only does like two a year. There really arenât a lot of applicants in my region, but he says Penn is trying to get more students from my area so I guess that will work in my favor.
Did anyone get interview invite or interviewed from Mid-West?
I am an international applicant. Received an email to apply for the scholarship from UPenn. Should I apply for it? I fear chance of acceptance will reduce as it will be taken as need aware case? Pls. advise.
I am an international applicant. Received an email from UPenn to apply for the Financial Aid. Should I apply for it? I fear chance of acceptance will reduce as it will be taken as need aware case? Pls. advise. In the email, they also mention if you apply for financial aid, your application will be considered under need aware category. I request all, from your experience pl advise me what I should do? I am unable to decide, pls. help.
@heroind Not sure if Penn is need blind or aware for internationals. But if you need financial aid, apply. If not, donât. It wonât do you any good if youâre accepted but canât afford to go though.
Canât we apply for financial aid at any point in the process though? I donât know about International applicants, but isnât Sallie Mae more than willing to loan us some bucks at any point, even rather late in the game after weâre accepted? If thatâs the case, Iâd plan to apply for the aid later if it might possibly affect their decision on me getting in or not. I know one girl from my school last year who had to apply for a student loan the summer right before she went away to college because her dad lost his job right before she graduated. S*#t happens!
I donât know, but if I might potentially get hosed from the applicant pool for needing aid over someone who doesnât, then Iâd play it safe and apply after I got in. Makes sense to me.
Havenât gotten an email for my interview yet⊠from California
Iâm from Wisconsin and got an email for a virtual email on Jan 23rd. My interview is tomorrow.
It really is random, but Penn alumni do a pretty good job of getting to everyone (from what Iâve heard). Why donât you email the local admissions rep and say you would love an interview?
Everyone else applying from my school got an interview. Should I request one? They say we shouldnât, though.
Iâm in a similar predicament⊠did a search of University of Pennsylvania Interviews and literally one of the first lines on the website is that we cannot request interviews
@APboy - same here: from SoCal and no interview email yet.
sometimes they donât do interviews bc of availability or time constraints, i wouldnât worry too much about it. they specifically indicate on their website that at times, they are unable to offer interviews for the aforementioned reasons, so you guys are fine. emailing them would only probably make them annoyedâthey know youâve applied and they know how to assign interviews. and if a college (this applies to anything) specifically tells you not to do something, DONT DO IT. otherwise, itâs your choice.
Okay, thanks guys.
I am a Penn alum and have been interviewing applicants for a number of years. If you havenât been offered an interview itâs because you fell through the cracks. We try to interview every applicant and, at least, offer an interview to every applicant. If there are no local alumni, we perform skype interviews. I would politely contact your local representative and request one. Best of luck.
Will Upenn send likely letters in March? I wonder if Upenn would send acceptance to most admitted students in March and only send out rejections and waitlists like some other schools.
@kcasssuu Penn tends to only send likelies to nursing applicants apparently.
Had my interview last night! It was laid back and lasted 30 minutes, mostly was about my extracurricular activities, interests outside of school, who I am and where my parents are from, what I like about the campus, if I wanted to study arboad etc.
International student and had my virtual interview today! I was almost an hour for me, talking about my interests and what opportunities I see at Penn that is suitable for me. The rest were mostly questions from the website.
