Hey Guys!
I am a rising junior now, and I applied to the 2013 UPenn SAAST program in nanotechnology. I was wondering if anybody in this program before has been accepted after being waitlisted (which I was unfortunately)? Does anybody know how the process works? Has anybody successfully been accepted?

BTW, I got this message:

Dear ________,

Thank you for your application to the Summer Academy in Applied Science & Technology (SAAST) at the School of Engineering and Applied Science of the University of Pennsylvania.

The credentials you presented in your application were impressive. However, due to the high number of applications received this year, we are unable at this time to offer you a place in SAAST 2013. Because of your strong qualifications, should space become available, we would be delighted to have you participate. If you wish to be placed on our waiting list, you do not need to do anything; we will contact you immediately if a space becomes available.

Please accept my best wishes for success in your future endeavors. Your application suggests that you will accomplish much, whether you pursue your interests here at SAAST or elsewhere.

Sincerely,

Assistant Director, SAAST

Does everybody get this email, or is it just for the waitlisted. In other words, is everybody that applied priority decision and not accepted put on the waitlist, or are some people rejected?

i was waitlisted too for comp sci stats?

My son was accepted into the Engineering Complex Networks program and received notification on 3/28.

@sunnyone, may I know when you submitted the application? How long was the review process? thanks.

@arjunn11
yes that’s the email they give for waitlisted people
i got that email too, but i got out of the wait list and got into computer science.
i wish you good luck :)

I was successfully admitted to SAAST 2013 in Nanotechnology but I turned it down when I found out that I was admitted to COSMOS 2013 in Astrophysics at UC Davis. I gave up my spot so hopefully others would get in. Let me know if you get in. Good luck!

Hi! I am applying for Nanotech to SAAST 2014, and my all-material-complete date is April18th. It is said that we may get our decision three weeks after that but I still got no email and SAAST office didnot reply to my email concerning when I may be rendered a result.
Did you have similar situations last year?
How long did it take for you to get that result?
@Tornate

Hey @XueXiaowei! I applied for SAAST again and got accepted into SAAST 2014 for Computer Science.

My all-material-complete date was April 3rd and I got my acceptance email on April 15th. I got a response in less than two weeks so if you have not gotten a reply yet, I’m pretty sure you should be getting one soon. Good luck with your application!

@Tornate OMG! That’s so quick!..I still haven’t received a decision yet although I was told I would get one after May 16 it did not come. I also got accepted by Harvard Summer School and it is not selective you know so I don’t really want to go there. But if I got rejected from SAAST I will go to Harvard Summer School.
And I need to pay in full for Harvard before May 19 but I still got no decision from SAAST.
Should I call SAAST? Does that help?

@Tornate Hey! I got accepted into nanotech after my 7 emails finally!..Hope to meet you there!
