UPenn SAT scores

So I called the admissions office today to ask some questions regarding my application.

When asking about SAT scores, they told me I needed to rush my November scores if I wanted them to be considered for my early decision application.

So, I went to the CB website and I can't find any information about how to rush scores or how much it costs... Is rushing the same thing as sending the free score report? The one where you have to select the schools before knowing your scores?

I'm really worried about this... I originally sent my scores in September, then took the October ones and improved a lot, and know I'm doing two last subject tests on the November date, but the October ones haven't been sent because they were supposed to go in with the November ones.... Ahhhhh!

To normally send your scores (if you didn’t mark them down on test day), it would take ~2-3 weeks for colleges to receive them. It costs $10.50 for each score report you send to a college. Rushing you have to pay an extra fee. The Rush Shipping option is under the “sending additional score reports” page. It says “Rush Shipping - $30.00 Score reports are normally sent within 2 business days from when your order is placed.”

^ I’m not sure if that is the same link but it should be a bright blue button somewhere on that page. You have to indicate which colleges you want to send your SAT scores to and then it will give you the option to send normally or rush (costs $30 extra).

I tried doing the “send scores” thing but I didn’t see an option to rush them…
This is very odd.

But by sending my scores with the free score report, won’t it get there much faster? I’ve heard you can only rush scores once they’re available.

Just to make things clear, this is what I mean by free score report:

I’m confused about this too.

weird, i was told by the director of intl admissions that there is no need to rush scores to the office if you are applying early.

You only need to rush scores–and pay the extra $30–if you are filing a score-report request AFTER the scores were initially released. If you requested that the scores be sent to a particular school at the time you registered for the test–or before the deadline to add schools before scores are available–then the scores will automatically be sent to that school as soon as they are available (i.e., no need to rush score reports requested in advance of the score release date).

If you have any additional questions, the customer service reps at College Board are quite helpful (by either email or phone–see the yellow box in the upper right):

Thank you 45 percenter, you’ve answered the question that no one has really seemed to know the answer to (including guidance counselors and admissions representatives).

That would explain why the option to rush wasn’t coming up for me… I haven’t even taken the test yet.

^ It is very confusing, and the College Board web site doesn’t really explain it. That’s why a call directly to College Board was required (and, as I said, quite helpful). ;)
