I am currently in the application process for UPENN Early Decision to Wharton and want some opinions on subject tests.
I scored a 790 on math II and am very happy with that along with my 5 on AP Calculus BC (w/ 5 AB subscore). The one I do not know if I should send is my Chemistry score of a 690. Since I got a 5 on AP Chem, do you think it would be better to not send in the chemistry score and only send math, or is the score good enough to send?
By the way, I took the subject test this October when I took AP Chemistry last year.
I don’t think a 690 on Chem SAT II will help your candidacy, so I wouldn’t send it. Also, from my understanding, AP scores play a very small role in the admissions process, so I wouldn’t count on your AP 5’s to boost your chances. It’s used for placement once you get in. At least, this is what I was told when I visited Penn. Hope this helps.
thank you! I just pointed the 5 on AP Chem out as if I ended up sending the 690, maybe they would see the 5 from the year before and it would balance out (probably not). Anyways, I decided not to send the chem subject test in
@ravensfan204 while ideally you would want to have two subject tests with great scores, I think sending in just one is better than sending two with one of the two being a suboptimal score. Wharton especially places the most emphasis on the math subject test score.
