UPenn Summer Academy in Neuroscience

Does anyone have any experience with this program?

My daughter is interested and has a chance to attend tuition free as a commuter student since she attends a Philadelphia public high school. If she were to get it I don’t see a downside being tuition free but I’d still like to know what others have experienced. Her interest in Neuroscience is from the research side and not the medical side. Doing the Academy would prevent her from doing some other things so she might have a choice to make.

I did some searching on CC but couldn’t find much info. A few threads about the BioMedical Academy. As an aside I find the search feature on CC not very good and have more luck with Google.

What are the alternatives ?
Could she do the 3-week program AND most of her other Plans ?
What colleges is she thinking of ?

Taking a class at Drexel University the obvious alternative.

She is also trying for a 6 week internship in Neuroscience at CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia) which would be 1st choice if obtained.

Colleges being looked at: Yale, U of Chi, Penn, Pitt, Drexel, Smith, Mt Holyoke, So Cal, WSLU, others
