Upenn Transfer fall 2010

There are way more accepted this year than previous years.

Btw, I am accepted too to Wharton. Who else is going to Wharton?

^Wow, would you mind talking your statistics? Wharton has always been my dream dude.

Does penn SAS have a good english and history dept? from everythig ive heard, penn is mostly renowned for wharton which is troubling since i got into the college.

@ alu_teothc

I’m feeling the same way - I’m very happy that I was accepted to Georgetown as well, but I am leaning towards Penn. I am a history and political science major, and I am beginning to look more deeply into both schools to see how their history/poli sci departments are. Financial aid will probably factor into my decision at least to some extent, although I have heard that Penn can be generous with their aid (hopefully it works out for me).

Also, does anyone have any idea, thoughts, etc. about the best options for housing for transfers? Also, housing is NOT guaranteed, correct?

Anyway, here are my stats if anyone is interested:

Accepted to PENN CAS
Boston University GPA: 3.75
Midterm report: 4.0
High School GPA: 3.67
SAT: 2040
Major: History and Political Science
ECs: internship with Senator Kerry, involvement in political science clubs (College Democrats, etc.), president of my high school class

Penn CAS has arguably the strongest undergraduate English dept in the country.

jw when’s the latest that Penn transfer admits have until to enroll/commit to Penn?

kyle808, I’m a history major as well! (CogSci minor). From my research the Penn history department is much more opulent than Georgetown’s, in resources, course selection, and faculty specializations. Plus, note the exquisite Penn Archaeology Museum… drools :-)

Georgetown’s location in DC might be a benefit for PoliSci-related internships, but I don’t doubt Penn would serve as an awesome spring board for practical experience in the field as well, plus you’d have Philly, Quaker alums, and the possibilities and resources of a 6x endowment (than that of GU’s) to help you. And 3 hours from DC is not bad at all – perhaps summer internship possibilities would arise in the future.

accepted. applied to penn cas for psych. i’m still waiting on nwestern and jhu, but i doubt i’ll be going. it’s going to be either cornell(cheapest option/lots of credits accepted), penn(prestige of program), or coulmbia(location/prestige of program). i’m so happy that i feel nothing if that makes sense haha

wow melonbread congrats. 3 great schools. columbia is like my dream but i didnt apply bc there would have been no point

Accepted but waitlisted for columbia soooo crossing my fingers.
and i actually might just go to NYU stern since I MISS NYC!!!

question, have anyone received the welcome package yet?

melonbread91, I was accepted to CAS for Psych, too. What area are you looking to focus on?

Also, is there a Facebook group for the 2010 transfers?

Nope, Penn will probably make one soon though, I suspect. There have been groups for 2009-2010, 2009-2008, and etc.

If I’m not mistaken, the Fall 2009 and Fall 2008 Penn Transfer Students Facebook groups were created by Penn transfers themselves. What reason do we have to believe that Penn will create a group?

i received the welcome packet yesterday, but I live only a couple miles away from penn so itll probably take longer if you live further away and if you haven’t gotten it yet. it basically just says whats online on the penn decision portal

let’s make a facebook group!! yeah i doubt penn will make it. anyone want to do the honors? im terrible at that kind of stuff

transfer_hopeful: Here is the 2009-2010 transfer group created by a PHINS, Peers Helping Incoming New Students. So, I would think they would create a group for 2010-2011.

[Penn Transfers | Facebook](<a href=“Facebook Public Group | Facebook”>Facebook Public Group | Facebook)

I’m not too sure though. So, if someone who is good at those type of things wants to create a group, free free.

I really want an email when do they give those out?

I got in! I realize I’ve almost never posted here. Right now I’m between here and Pomona (and my current school) – have yet to hear from Brown or Williams, though.

Congrats everyone who made it, and if you are on the waitlist maybe you’ll get my spot…!

@tigerlily: i’m looking onto biological basis of behavior(bbb), it sounds pretty neat =)

as of now i think i’ll be turning down penn since i don’t really want to leave nys/nyc(plus i would get no state fin. aid). good luck to the waitlistees!
