Upenn Transfer fall 2010

@Joe_L514
I agree we should get our own facebook group before waiting for PHINS to make one…
I guess I can create one but any preference for group name or other features??

Ok i made a closed group called “UPenn Transfers 2010”
join!

ericlee15: Yo, you should probably tweak the settings man. The requirement of requesting to join is a little unnecessary, i think.

I agree. There’s no reason for the group to be closed unless there’s some way to verify that members are actually admits. Also, maybe the description should indicate that the group is for all transfer admits, rather than just those who have decided to accept admission–if that is in fact the case.

joe i switched the setting.

Was a transfer to Penn (wharton) in a previous year, PM me if you have any questions.

Some advice:

 1. Keep every single one of your documents (drafts, peer reviews, edits, teacher’s evalution/comments) from your courses especially writing courses

2) Make digital copies of all your syllabi and exams (basically scan everything and have them handy come transfer orientation)

3) Brush up on your foreign language skills over the summer so you can do well enough on the proficiency tests (if you already have SAT II or AP credit, you can ignore this)

4) speaking of APs, have your AP scores report when you come to Penn

5) go to Penn’s course guide page, and think about what classes you want to take next semester, so you can register as soon as you get clearance

X) Congrats and enjoy the summer

my stats are very similar to yours, and I was rejected as well… =/
i just can’t figure out why I got rejected…stellar recs and essays to supplement near perfect stats. rejected from Brown too

@ guesswho2232: Ya, I was surprised that I didn’t even make the waitlist…I thought I had good essays and recs too. Oh well. I want to go to Georgetown anyways (although it depends on financial aid at this point haha). Where else did you apply (other than UPenn and Brown)?

Waitlisted at the College.

this sucks so much…I really wanna go to Penn

@egyguy

applied to duke, penn, brown, and emory
rejected from the first 3, got into emory

I felt compelled to contribute to this thread because it has been a source of information and inspiration for me over the past five months.

hey what dorm are you guys choosing? which is the best sophomore dorm?
i’m visiting penn tomorrow for the first time (so excited!!!)

I visited Penn’s campus on Saturday… it was pretty awesome. I personally went with the high rises.

Heyyy do they send an estimated credits evaluation along with the welcoming packet?

Nope… and they were pretty vague when I asked them about when credit evaluation happened.

wait but in the information for accepted students document they said sth like, you will receive a “preliminary evaluation” of the transfer credits in three weeks. It’s so scary. This credits transfer thing. I’m a sophomore now I don’t want to enter Penn as freshman =((((((((

Ugh three weeks is so inconvenient. That’s solidly after the reply date. Between that, financial aid, and housing, the uncertainty of it all is pretty obnoxious.

Guys I am right there with you. I am about to go to a different school because I cannot afford being at Penn for more than two years.

@smoothexact

would you mind sharing which school you got accepeted to?
