UPenn Transfer Thread Fall 2021

we don’t! it’d be a good idea to make one

Idk what the best way to make a group chat is, but in another thread, someone asked accepted students to message their instagrams to that user so they could make a group. If the accepted students here feel ok with doing that, please just like message me your Instagram username and I’ll make a group chat.

i’ve seen people use groupme, it’s easy since ppl can join from a link

How many credits did u apply with? Congrats!

I think around 30 I am going to be a sophomore

Hi. I am currently about to start my freshman year of college at SUNY Binghamton. However, I am hoping to transfer after one year to the University of Pennsylvania’s College of Arts and Sciences as an economics major (I want to be an investment banker). I am enclosing my current stats below. I would appreciate any and all input that you might have about my odds and how to optimize them.

  • SAT: 1420 (See Below)
    • The story with my SAT Scores is that I had a 1420 by the end of 2019, and I worked my ass off to get it up. By March 2020, a week before my test, I had a 1550 on my last practice test. The issue was that COVID-19 caused school and my test to get canceled, so I didn’t get to take it in my prime.
  • SAT Subject Tests: World History (790)
  • GPA W: 4.0
  • GPA UW: 4.0
  • APs
    • AP European History- 5
    • AP Psychology- 5
    • AP United States History- 5
    • AP Statistics- 4
    • AP English Language and Composition- 3
    • AP English Literature and Composition- n/a
    • AP U.S. Government and Politics- n/a

(There will be a total of eleven AP classes on my transcript after senior year is over. Some exams at the end of this year were not taken for personal reasons.)

  • USA, NY/NJ/CT Tri State Area Suburb
  • Public High School
  • Hooks: Jewish
  • Extracurriculars:
    • DECA Role-play Officer (State Competitor Sophomore and Senior Year)

Columbia College has an excellent economics program, and also business studies courses under the College and Business School which permits undergraduates to take certain courses.

How hard is it to transfer into Columbia? I am applying there this year too.

Try. Do your very best. Challenge yourself with : courses, ideas and reasons for wanting to study at Columbia ( eg. specific programs, opportunities which New York and Columbia can provide).

economics programs and institutions abound at Columbia, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York is the most powerful bank in the US; and the United Nations is an easy 25-30 minute subway ride away.
