UPenn v Berkeley (Regent's)???

Hi everyone, I am fully aware that there are reads quite similar to mine but I would really like some new opinions on this. I am an incoming freshman who is majoring in PoliSci and thinking about picking up business or economics. I've been going back and forth between UPenn and Berkeley for the last two months because I cannot decide.

Pro-Penn
Duh, it's an Ivy.
If I want to definitely go into business, Wharton is right there (then again Cal has Haas)
It's an opportunity to get out of California
No grade deflation like at Cal
More internship opportunity (when I was there, I heard that 95% of students leave with some internship experience)

Pro-Berkeley
Close to home
Regent's gives me money, guaranteed housing, an advisor, and more connections wuth faculty
Better weather
Better international reputation.

I was recently waitlisted at Harvard and then rejected, which poses a problem for me because that was my main choice - I am happy about all my other great choices but it makes decision making more difficult. I thought Berkeley was going to be the best I would get so it became my number one "realistic" choice - but now I have Penn as well.

Can anyone offer some insight/opinion? I want to go to law school later, preferably HYS, Columbia, NYU or Cal.

Oh and I just want to point out that money is not a factor in my decision.

Thank you!

I know someone in the same boat. Cal regents vs wharton. It was a no brainer.

Penn it is!

…wow I had the exact same dilemma as you this year (Penn vs. Regents Berkeley) and had the toughest time deciding because I’m majoring in engineering).

Anyways, you made a very good choice. I guess I’ll be seeing you at Penn. :)

penn vs ucb is a no brainer. at ucb with over crowding, most have to go 5th year and even with regents scholarship that is still a lot of extra $$$$. of course can’t ignore quality of academic life and programs associated with ivies. and prestige of a degree from ivy leage

Yeah that’s what it came down to. Looking forward to seeing you Sensei!
