UPenn vs. Boston 7 year

I'm in a bit of a predicament right now :(. College admissions are just around the corner and I need to start really thinking seriously about how I plan on applying. Right now, my top choice in undergrad would have to be UPenn. I am also intrigued by combined med programs like BU or Brown etc and love the security they offer. I can't decide between applying ED to UPenn or waiting for RD and applying to these combined programs. If I apply regular however, I'm lowering my chances for UPenn greatly since they accept nearly 50% of class during ED round.

What do you guys think?
Hypothetically, if you were accepted to your favorite ivy and BU's 7 year program, which one would you choose?

Personally I would go for my favorite ivy (yale). But if you are sure that you will always want to be a doctor than BU might be the place for you.

Also, I have to point out that it is NOT easier to get into a university through ED, it only seems to be easier because only highly qualified students apply during ED. Sometimes it may even be harder, because they only set aside a certain number of ED stops each year, and if a lot of people apply for ED they may run out.

I would recommend waiting for RD for both, and seeing what you get into then. At that point you will have a nice set of potions to choose from. At least thats my plan right now…

Ooh, that’s a hard one. UPenn is a very top notch private Ivy League undergrad with good research opportunities. I’ve also heard very good things about Brown’s Bachelor/MD program which is even a better deal.

BU’s Bachelor/MD program is also very good, besides the fact of being in Boston, the area is also a good medical research hub: BU, Tufts, and Harvard Medical School (incl. Harvard’s affiliates: Mass General, Brigham and Women’s, and Beth Israel Deaconess) - any of which you could take advantage of. You do have to take the MCAT for this program, however.

I really don’t know about whether applying ED really does greatly affect your chances or only those who are borderline candidates, but you may be right:
