***Upenn vs Smith College?***

I just got a transfer acceptance letter from Upenn and I'm really confused whether I should go for Smith or Upenn. I see both schools have pros and cons (big ivy school- small LAC / urban- rural/ class size) I'm interested in Music and Psychology, and Im currently thinking of double majoring or just major in Psychology. Can anyone please give me some advice?

I would prefer Smith more if you intend to major in psychology and music. :)

Upenn - its a better college

I have friends at both and they both love it. Smith has a really tight knit community and a lot of cultural and political events and seminars. & Penn is PENN. I can see why it would be a tough decision but both are highly recognized and regarded, I would think.

P.s. Maybe this will help: Think about your grad school plans... would you stay at Penn? Or think about going to Smith and the grad schools you're shooting for after your BA. All the best!
:)

Do most Upenn Undergrads stay at Penn for Grad School?

Music is far better at Penn, bar none.

There is no college where most stay for grad school.

Go to Penn, you'll have a much better student body.

I went to smith for my first year and I transferred.

Some people love smith but I believe you have to be the right type of person. the campus is heavily dominated by uber-liberal, uber-feminist sentiments. When I was there I thought it was politically correct to a fault and I felt as though i was constantly walking on eggshells around my friends and classmates.

That being said, the academic experience I had was great. My classes were fantastic, the professors were very open, and I got to do research in psychology my first year

When you make this decision i suggest you think about how close to a city you want to be, what kind of social life you want to have, and what kind of academic experience you want.

Thanks for your reply Schmoo102 :) Can you tell me more about Smith and its psychology and music program? Did you transfer to a bigger university or another LAC? Also, how's social life at Smith?
