Hey everyone!
So I started CC this year. As a first-year student, I applied and was accepted into UCLA for political science. My GPA’s a 4.0, I’m in a fraternity at my local university, I’m the president of a fairly large club, on the debate team, on the improv team, volunteered in Israel, and worked as a creative writing specialist at my local Jewish summer camp for nine weeks.
I’ve completed 33.5 units, and am taking another 12 this summer.
I’ve taken:
Western Civilization 1
English: Critical Thinking and Composition
Introduction to Theater
International Relations
American Government & Politics
Elementary Spanish 1
Social & Political Philosophy
Comparative Politics
Biological Anthropology
Improvisational Comedy 1
Introduction to Logic
Introduction to Business
Principles of Microeconomics
Introduction to Mass Communications
Introduction to Criminal Justice
Essentially, I get to skip a year of college because I took 11 AP exams (mostly 4s but some 3s). My HS GPA was a 2.95, and my SAT was a 1650. But I’m sure I could pull it up to a 2200 minimum, because I took it three years ago while I was immature (and inept, lol).
I got basically a full ride to UCLA, and it’s right by home. I’m planning on law school (hopefully a T4).
Do you guys think I should postpone UCLA/cancel it and take some more classes this year, study for the SAT, and apply to UPENN/other Ivy leagues? Or go right into UCLA and graduate a year early? Is it worth waiting a year on LA to get into UPENN/another Ivy?
UPENN has been a dream of mine for a while now.
