upenn (wharton) vs. berkeley (regents scholar)

I got off the waitlist for UPenn Wharton and I'm debating whether to stick to Berkeley (where I am a Regents and Chancellors Scholar) or go to UPenn because they have Wharton? ADVICE PLEASE!!!

All right, there's a couple things to take into consideration.

1) Are you absolutely certain you without a doubt intend to go business?
2) Do finances play a role in your decision?
3) Do you want to work on the West Coast (high-tech, Asia international) or the East Coast (Old money big industry, agriculture, energy, manufacturing, etc.)?

If you are sure you want to do business, and your financial situation doesn't play a role in it, you should go to Wharton.

The third might tip you either way, though if you're at Berkeley or if you're at Wharton, you can move West or East relatively easily, so it's less of a factor.

For business, Wharton is the titan on the field.
Do make sure of your interest though. Berkeley may be criticized with being harsh and intensive, but Wharton is absolutely not for the faint of heart.

It's a tough decision. I know many or the Regents scholars propective students were making this decision, a lot of them also considering Duke.

Where would you rather spend about four years of your life?

All i have to say is

W
H
A
R
T
O
N

my dad went to Wharton for his MBA and lets just say the connections and the Name Wharton will always follow you forever.. If you are going to go to business, and worried about the $$ for Wharton. I believe you can get your money back in 3-4 years later after u graduate from MBA and pay off your debt because Wharton salary on average are $100,000+

PS: Sadly even with legacy still stuck on waitlist!! and day by day chances are slowly diminishing..

Although there is no doubt it's a great place to be, and has great connections, professional or undergraduate. I've read only about 40% or Wharton grads get their MBAs afterward- maybe it's smaller. Anyway, it was supposed to be a small percentage compared to other top schools, and I bet it's in part because they have higher average starting salaries and better job placement. But . . .

Does Wharton post average salaries for Wharton BAs?

Wharton undergraduates' salaries are similar to Haas'. Much lower than $100,000, more like half that.

There was a Haas vs Wharton discussion here:
<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=173055&page=1&pp=15&highlight=penn+tennis%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=173055&page=1&pp=15&highlight=penn+tennis</a></p>

Here's a major difference: when you're in Wharton you're in Wharton, but at Berkeley, you have to APPLY to Haas. At Wharton, you just have to graduate, but at Berkeley, you're WEEDED. The application process and prerequisites make you reconsider if Business is really for you, not to mention two years of anxiety while working towards decisions. Its crazy, but I feel more confident in majoring Business.

Then again, perhaps I'm just bitter because I Wharton rejected me.
