UPenn (Wharton) vs LSE?

I'm lucky enough to get accepted into Wharton and LSE (Maths and Economics). I have visited both universities and like both equally. I would like to work internationally in the future in business/finance/IB

Which university has a better global brand name/reputation/is more prestigious?

Not even in the same league.

In the US
Brand name: Wharton>>>LSE
Reputation among employers in finance: Wharton>>>LSE; LSE can’t place in the US

In Asia
Brand name: Wharton>>>LSE
Reputation among employers in finance: Wharton>>>LSE

In Europe
Brand name: Wharton=LSE
Reputation among employers in finance: Wharton>=LSE

I disagree IvyPBear, even in Europe, Wharton would be a heavy winner over LSE. The only place where LSE may be equal to Wharton (even that is debatable) is in the UK. But in France, Germany Scandinavia, Switzerland Spain etc…, wharton is would be the clear cut winner. As you point out, in the US, Asia, the Middle East and South America, Wharton would be the clear winner too.

“I disagree IvyPBear”

Alexandre is right. I was too conservative in my assessment of Wharton’s advantage. Though the gap between Wharton and LSE is certainly smaller in Europe in general (and UK in particular) compared to the gap in the US, Asia, the Middle East, and South America. The bottom line is that LSE can’t place in NYC, and LSE can place you in Hong Kong/Singapore usually only if you have connections.

Wharton is too huge a name to be compared to LSE. Wharton > LSE.

Wharton can be compared to HBS, Stanford GSB and the like. These are names of business schools superior to London Business School’s. That coming from someone who has attended LBS. :)
