Since people started receiving merit scholarships, starting this thread. Please share your stats , scholarship amount etc. thank you
Daughter received $25K/year. OOS. I have posted stats in decisions thread.
@thishappens , that’s wonderful!!! Very happy for your daughter. Reposting your daughters stats for easy reference. Applied on 9/18, acceptance email on 9/28. ACT 35 and GPA 3.9
25k/yr 35 ACT 3.95 GPA
We applied 10/12 with 35 ACt and 3.9 unweighted GPA. Granted 10k per year
@CamPan1 , instate or OOS? Did you answer all three questions? We applied on 9/29 and got the acceptance email on 10/13. 1540 SAT superscore, 4.64 wGPA, 3.93 uwGPA. OOS. Hoping for some merit aid.
It would also be interesting to add a fourth question:
Did you complete a registered visit/tour or otherwise somehow show interest via contact with an admissions officer/email, etc? :-?
No, but we had seen the campus a few times. Missed opportunity
@CamPan1 —it’s anyone guess if interest is considered when they are awarding merit. SO hard to know!
OOS,4.8 weighted, 31 ACT, 1440 SAT, Honors College eligible, top 4% of class, 7 AP’s…any hope?
congrats
@NCburgher — the link to last years merit scholarship stats are buried a few pages back. Have you found that link and browsed the stats?
Looking a older threads try to get a sense of when we will have full financial picture. Daughter’s GPA, test scores are right at what appears to have been the threshold last year for merit. We have also submitted FAFSA and have an EFC of about $35,000. Sooooo hoping that spread between EFC and cost of attendance is covered by merit. Am I correct in understanding that otherwise we would need to wait until spring to see if her financial aid package includes grant funding? Ohhhh say it isn’t so! The wait is agonizing.
.
Daughter received “Chancellor Nominee” scholarship of 15,000/year and invited to apply for Chancellor’s Scholarship. OOS, 1550 SAT, IB Diploma student.
@CValle —Congrats! Sounds just like my daughter last year! I think IB nurtures a specific writing style and student that is appealing to the Chancellor’s program.
Well @CValle, congrats! I’d say that was worth an application!!!
@RelocatedYankee I don’t think there will be much need based aid for an EFC of $35,000.
The need based grants are aimed at low income students.
You probably will be offered loans, and maybe merit.
I think FA awards come out starting in February?
Just got my scholarship letter today! Full tuition (OOS) and Chancellor’s nomination. I applied to Dietrich for physics.
For those interested, my stats are 1580 SAT, 4.0 UW/4.4 W GPA, 7 APs/2 dual enrolled, no unusual extras other than a physics MOOC course. Hope this helps!
Wow exciting to see the scholarships roll in congrats @CValle and @virginiadude. Well deserved scholarships! Still waiting on our merit…
