Hi
Ive recently gotten an acceptance letter to Upitt bradford but, I really want to go to Oakland (Main Campus). At the time when i sent my application i didn't send an essay and sent only 1 recommendation letter because i was swamped in things to do. I've sent my well written essay to the admissions office and 2 more recommendation providers one of them being a Doctor.
Do you think the admissions office will accept me to the main campus now that my application is fully credible?
PLEASE ANSWER! Thank you!!

Ps. I have a 3.65 GPA ranked in the 25th percentile of my class

PSS. Should i email the admissions office due to the fact that my senior year i’ve been involved in exclusive academic competitions, clubs, and community service. Will they be fond of such things in an email?

I think you should call the admissions office and explain your situation - want Pitt main campus, sent in additional info, etc. I’ve found them to be pretty helpful and responsive.

@nascarnewyork If i emphasized that the supplemental information is worthwhile would they understand the circumstances? For example, ive gotten a recommendation from a Geriatric Psychiatrist that i’ve volunteered with and performed research projects with at the time…We’ve conducted real significant research and interesting findings that he included into the recommendation. Would emphasizing that to the admissions office on the phone be a positive option?

If you’ve submitted all the additional info you should email or call OAFA and kindly explain to them that you would like to be reconsidered for acceptance into Pitt Main. Did you originally mark down a particular major you were thinking of? On the whole, I’ve heard it’s easier to get accepted as an undecided major compared to Neuro/Pre-Med or something, within the school of A&S.

I agree with AwesomeOpossum except I would definitely call, not email. You should tell them that you were accepted to Bradford but you really want Pitt main. Tell them that you submitted additional information and ask if it’s possible to have them look at the new info and reevaluate if you could possibly be accepted to main. You might even ask if there’s anything else you could do or submit to help your case. When you call, I think you start out with a general clerk so you probably will want to ask to speak with an admissions counselor. Good luck.

Okay thanks guys! Going back on what should be said to the admissions office… Personally i’m interested in premed/Bio however, by saying my major as undecided on the phone will it give give me a better advantage at Pitt main?

I don’t really know but you can always declare a major after you’re here (my daughter didn’t declare a major until her 4th year but that’s another story) so there’s no downside to saying undecided.

Yep, im in :)

congrats.

It seems like a lot of people here wonder about switching admits from regional campuses to the main campus. Can you elaborate on your situation that resulted in the successful reconsideration of your application to the main campus?

That’s great news - congratulations!
