Reflection
Strengths: Personally, my progression throughout high school showed that I worked hard constantly and never slacked. I was also able to overcome multiple obstacles in order to get this far. For those who are like me, never lose hope since everyone has a chance at greatness no matter what. Just keep working hard at your goals, and nothing will be impossible.
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: APPLY EARLY!!!
Where else you are applying or have already applied: Like 9 other schools, so I’m not done yet, but Pitt is my top school, and was my first acceptance!
General Comments/Advice/Hindsight: I can’t wait to attend this great University! To others hoping to get in, apply early, and submit all materials/forms/documents on the same day for a greater chance. And as I said before, never give up. Everyone has a chance of achieving greatness. Even though I struggled through high school, I always worked hard at any rigorous or challenging course I took. Additionally, applicants, make sure that you have taken a multitude of AP, Honors, and Advanced courses in order to show that you can handle even more rigorous coursework once you get into colleges. I assume that many schools like seeing this in students.

Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: pitt goes on stats only…
Where else you are applying or have already applied: cmu, psu, jhu, brown, cornell, penn, and a couple more
General Comments/Advice/Hindsight:
This was my safety along with psu but I got a full tuition scholarship so I’m not really sure of anything anymore… It’s definitely a great school with great opportunities, I’d be humbled to attend  will see in April!

@kcarpenterfan I also got a full tuition scholarship as well! Do you think it includes room and board fees?

@hiltiv unless yours is a special case, I believe not. The letter said that I could further apply for Chancellor’s Scholarship which does include room and board. (Implying that this does not include it)

psst… Now I’m worried I’ll get yelled at for talking on a stats only page… sorry in advance!

@kcarpenterfan you’re right we shouldn’t be talking too much lol. But yea mine only said full tuition so I’ll probably apply for the Chancellor’s scholarship as well

@kcarpenterfan and @hiltiv, Full tuition does not imply that room and board will be covered. The award letter should specify whether room and board is also covered. Feel free to contact our office with further questions to keep this thread uncluttered!

Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): My love for medicine and how much effort i’ve put towards it and the rest of my schooling

Reflection
Strengths: My focus for one field, good class rank, decent ACT
Weaknesses: My essays
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected:
Where else you are applying or have already applied: UB, UofR, PSU, CWRU, Brown, Cornell, SBU/GW, Rice/Baylor, Loyola Maryland, UConn, and a couple of local colleges.
General Comments/Advice/Hindsight: Definitely apply early, but if you need to, don’t hold back on retaking ACT or SAT. I missed getting an invitation to the GAP program for medicine because of one point on my ACT according to the admissions counselor. Take your time to research the school and know exactly what their requirements and deadlines are. Don’t procrastinate which I know you hear from every student but still, it kicked my butt. And be nice to your recommenders and counselors, it pays off.
