UPitt Program

I have an interview coming soon. Does anyone know much about this program? The interviews? and the requirements which seem kind of steep. Is the MCAT required, and is the 3.75 GPA even doable?

I think the 3.75 GPA is quite ridiculously tough. But hey, if you think you can do it then go for it! =D

^i agree, 3.75 seems tough. can you give me a link to the page for the program? please excuse my ignorance, but i just can't seem to find it anywhere. good luck in your interview!

University of Pittsburgh: Undergraduate Admissions & Financial Aid

This is a little off topic, but my cousin graduated from UPitt SOM a couple years ago, and I've heard nothing but good things about it. She got into a anesthesiology residency at Univ. of Washington's Harborview Medical Center (which is pretty cool) and now works as an attending at Overlake.
So congrats!

what about the 3.75 GPA requirement? isn't that too high for a combined program? I have an interview but am thinking of canceling it

Yeah, I thought the same thing. It seems like a great program, but I'm not sure about how difficult it is to keep 3.75 at pitt specifically. It seems really hard.

It's very reasonable to keep your spot at a Top 15 med school.

Keeping a 3.75 isn't all that bad if you have the credentials to get into the program at the first place. Im a sophomore in the program and I have a 4.00 and just have to take an organic chem 2 lab to finish my premed requirements. It's great that you can major in anything you'd like and don't have to take the mcat...

^ thats pretty impressive.

Cash, my only concern was that I would be spending all my time studying with little or no time for extracurriculars or any other majors. If that is not the case then it is obviously a great program. Do you have any input about that?

when do we hear back from PITT about decisions to the guaranteed med program?

i think they said 2nd or 3rd week of April

If you didn't get into the program, and knew you wanted to go to med school, you would need at least a 3.7 GPA to stay competitive for med school. Being the in the program means you don't have to take the MCAT.

HEY,

I got in to UPitt medschool guarantee program

post if you got in!!!

^congratulations!

congrats, im sure you deserved it

Is U Pitt just for instate?

nope, anyone can apply
