I'm currently filling out the common app and wanting to upload documents, such as my Personal Statement among others, to the Common App from Microsoft Word. However, when I try to do that, the "uploading documents" screen says "INVALID ACCESS" and I can't upload any documents.
Please help!!!

I'm sorry for inconveniencing anyone, but I actually solved the problem myself.
Good luck all!

I am getting the same error message. It would be great if you could let me know how you solved the problem! :)

Just kidding, I just solved the problem myself, too! :P

how did you solve this problem???

If your session times out, that is you are inactive in your online session for whatever the designated period of time is (15 minutes?), and you try to upload documents, you get the invalid access message.

Mine gave me the message, but when I checked again, the .doc had been uploaded anyways. So, phew. =P

omg thanks for posting this up

Also, if you're on a Mac, you can only upload a document that's stored on the desktop -- not in a folder/file. I almost freaked over this for S's application, but happened to stumble on the solution.

Hey All,

I recently applied to some of my schools. I am using a Mac. I checked the “Print Preview” on the Common App and it did not show me any of my supplements’ words, even though it said they were uploaded. I made sure they were on my desktop, not in folders, when I uploaded them. Did my colleges just get a bunch of blank paper, or can they see what was written but not me?

Please let me know. Thanks.

Peace,

Infos33k3r - I would like to know this too since I’m using a macbook and I have the same problem. :/

I had the same thing happen, and I tried everyone’s tips.
Was not timed out.
Switched to firefox, still didn’t work.

The only format that worked was the .txt format.

Try that! It worked for me. :)
