Upper Class Move-in

For freshman move-in, we all got in one long line and pulled up to our building and a great group of students carried everything to the room. How does that work for upperclassmen? Do you still get in one long line and pull up and unload and have help or do you pull up, unload and move your own stuff in or do you have to park and transport your stuff yourself to your room with the carts? My d will be moving into Morewood Gardens. Thanks!

You’re on your own. If you have some friends they can help. My S was in group housing and they all tried to get to the dorms/apartments at the same time to help each other.

Thats what I thought. Do you still line up in cars and pull to the front and drop stuff or do you have to park and then move the stuff from the parking lot?

How does getting stuff out of storage work? Are there certain times you can go or…?

You can still pull a car up to the morewood turnaround to unload, but depending on what time you move in, you might find that the turnaround is COMPLETELY swamped. The shuttles also will be showing up on the hour and half hour and they will honk at you shamelessly if you are in their spot. :stuck_out_tongue:

Check out the storage dates. Those are now the dates when you can remove stuff from storage.

You are mostly on your own, but there will certainly be help available if you need it. Each dorm will still have some members from the RA staff on duty all day to help residents with move-in. For example, last year in Fairfax, we (the Fairfax RAs) had two people on duty something like 8am - 10pm. One coordinated parking and unloading, and the other took care of the p.o.s. elevator that serviced the building.

Regardless of which building you are in, there should still be enough red carts floating around to make things easy.

Thanks, completelykate, I don’t know why I didn’t look there! Good to know…

Depends when you arrive-- you have a few days and it’s nothing crazy.

Some people don’t even come back until Sunday and others arrive earlier.

The RA has to take you into that are to get your stuff out of storage. Sophomore year, someone closed my D’s fridge which was in storage-- and it smelled terrible. Stuff gets moved all over in that big room - so don’t panic when it’s not where you think you left it during finals week.

You only get one red cart – the people on duty didn’t let you take several.
