Upper Div vs. Lower Div for Decals...

I'm trying to get into a decal so that I can drop one of my classes, but it seems like most of the decals i've tried to get into only have Upper Div CCN's left to hand out. I'm a sophomore, and I remember reading that upper div classes that end in 198 won't give me credit if i'm an underclassmen. ( Can a lower division student take an upper-division special studies course (197/198/199)? | College of Letters & Science )Can anyone help fill me in on how this stuff works? I'd really like to hurry up and enroll in a decal, so i can finally stop worrying about my schedule... Thanks

you can do either and it shouldnt matter-i chose to enroll in 198 as a sophomore just so I could get some “upper div” unit reqs for getting my degree. although, ultimately you should end up fulfilling the requirement from your major upper divs at any rate…

What’s your Telebears class level? I guess it depends on your department, but freshmen/soph class level = lower div and jun/senior class level = upper div. Only way around it is to submit a form to the department.

And class level is different than like “year.” People can be juniors but have sophomore class level and vice versa.

ya-i had senior standing as a soph-but it allowed me to choose either one for some reason
