<p>My major has 8 upper division classes for completion. I take 2 major classes per semester and then choose which additional classes I feel will round out my education (even some lower division courses, if they interest me).</p>

<p>I was wondering the same thing dreamspace. I'm kind of confused as far as registering for classes go. How does this whole Phase I and II registering process operate? According to my understanding, registering at CalSo involves Phase I. </p>
<p>I was browsing over the class schedule today & I noticed that many classes are already full- some even have wait lists! </p>
<p>Since I have all the prereqs done and even a class that many prospective mass comm majors don't have (Mass Comm 10, which isn't articulated at many CCs) I'm looking to register for solely upper division courses. However, these classes are only available to 'declared' mass comm majors. So how do I go about registering for the classes I need if I can't declare my major within L&S until fall?</p>

<p>I just compeleted a seminar on preparing for graduate school. They (current graduate students, Head of the Graduate Division and professors who had previously been on graduate acceptance committees) said that getting involved with research (independent and sponsored personal) doing an honors thesis and authoring and/or co-authoring a paper (or more than one) would be a better choice than double majoring or minoring if you have plans for grad studies.</p>

<p>there are some exceptions of course. take me. im double majoring in math and econ. i'm pretty sure having a solid math background is more important for later on. however, part of that has to do with the fact that i might get an mba, not grad school straight out of college.</p>
<p>ive also heard that you should definitely take a graduate level course if you can.</p>
<p>You all need 60 upper div quarter units to graduate, there is no upper div GE but you still have to take lots of random stuff to reach the 60 units needed for graduation</p>
<p>I am thinking of at least, minoring in nutrition. Double major will be too heavy for me to handle. I plant to take 2 major classes, and 2 minor classes in the first sememster if there is no "upper division GE" The major + minor credit should give me 48 unit total.</p>
