Upperclass dining

I'm living in Lambeth (woo) so I have access to the C3 store and since i'm in the e-school I'm only a few steps from o-hill and crossroads (by the way, the ham/pinapple/blue cheese sandwhich from the panini shop in crossroads is excellent), so I figure it's worth it to get a dining plan so I never run the risk of not eating because either a) I don't have money on me b) I don't want to spend money/ask my parents for some, and thus don't eat.

So, suggestions for upperclass dining plans? (I know there's only a few upperclassmen on here, but I figured I'd ask anyways and hope everyone had their and their friends' opinions) I think i'm going to do the Semester 80 and just load on the Plus dollars, and make store runs whenever I need something else that C3 doesn't have.

I'm sorry this is not helping you but I was wondering if you can tell me what do they sell at C3.

It varies C3 to C3. At the Lambeth one, they sell apartment-living-specific stuff (boxed food to prepare, snacks, drinks, daries, bread, cleaning supplies, apartment stuff, ect). At the other two, they sell more al a carte food items for quick meals.

I had better luck going off the meal plan and buying food from Harris Teeter and at restaurents. I spent about $1000 each semester for a total savings of about $1200 over the course of the year.

Darnit. I would like a meal plan so I can have Plus dollars because I'm sure at some point i'll just get lazy and not cook. Maybe I should just reduce to the 50/Semester and load up on Plus dollars. I do loovveee breakfast at dining halls on the weekends simply because I love eating a big breakfast, then not eating again till 6, then going out. I think the only reason I'm getting 80 is because I'll use probably 2 on the weekends, and the 3 left could be used for take out lunch/dinner when I'm passing Ohill or Newcomb. Maybe I should go with the 50/Semester, because I can upgrade without cost before Sept 4th and I think by then I'll have somewhat of an idea since we'll have been in school for a week by then. Then again, I doubt my mother would let me go hungry, especially after losing 15lbs first year hahaha

You could always buy meals individually from the dining hall...

I still like the Plus dollars. It's a cheap way to get more money out of my parents for food anyways. Because even if they give me an allowance for food (which my mom brought up the other day) I won't want to spend it because i'm a college kid. Having some sort of guarenteed food option seems like a good idea for the first semester. I'll see how it goes and drop it second if I really hate it, but I doubt I will.

you can upgrade your mealplan during the year too right? or at worse buy meals individually... better to buy less than more? plus dollars you can never go wrong with as you know. :D

my second year I started with semester 80... and had abuot 20 left over at the end. in the spring i went down to 50 and ran out a few days before I left.

it really depends on how you want to spend your dining, at home, at a dining hall, at a restaurant, at a Plus$ location. being an upperclassman i feel it's easier to want to go eat out more, or to get your own food to cook, but it certainly will vary with preference.

like you I enjoy the weekend breakfast, and it's typically easy enough to grab a couple people to go eat with for brunch on sat/sun. lunch is probably the easiest thing to eat at a dining hall because there's always lunch close to class and you can meet up with friends/appartmentmates, etc. for it. dinner is where I typically was going out, spending plus$ or eating at a friend's place.

so didn't really give you an answer, but there are some thoughts.

Yeah, i've decided to do the 50/S and start off with around 300 plus dollars. The plus dollars carry over, so that's not a big deal. And, I think my mom is giving me ~$75/month for groceries/necessities/supplies, but we're sort of waiting and seeing for that. I figure I can always upgrade to 80 if need be, but I'd rather the flexibility of plus dollars. And since C3 is right next to my Lambeth building, I can use plus dollars in there.
