If I have packages shipped to my dorm address, do I have to be in when they arrive to sign for them?

You need to be moved in. You usually need to have a room number too. You can place a note on your door saying that anyone in the dorm can sign for them, which has always worked for me. You don't need to physically be present when the package arrives usually.

During orientation week, half the dorms will have a sign on the door that says "Please let anyone in the hall sign for my package." Most likely, either the package will be left outside your door or someone else will hang on to it until they find you to give it to you.

Like marlgirl said, you do have to be moved in, and you need to have the package sent to your room number. Thus you should not have anything shipped until after you move in. You can probably get by without it for a week.

Wait... so we don't have to have them shipped to PO boxes? We can have a package shipped to our dorm?

UPS will not ship to a PO Box. However, you can use USPS to ship boxes to your PO Box.

UPS/Fedex must be shipped to your dorm room. USPS can be shipped to your PO box. I think if you ship it by USPS to your dorm room, it ends up at the housing service center for you to pick up.

What about normal mail? How soon can we have regular ol' mail shipped to our PO Box?

As soon as you know the box number. You'll get the number and key when you check into your dorm.

But box numbers are already on Axess.

really?? how come i still cann't see mine on there?
can anybody tell me how to check our PO BOX numbers?

Personal Info -> and it's listed under current mailing address

Have you been checking your PO Box for a slip? It's not going to come to your room, in case you misunderstood.

yeah i know that..i gave my po box address. there has been a message for the past 2 weeks that my package is at palo alto ca 94309 i just dont know if this is the stanford post office place or not.

94309 is the post office zip code. Dorms are 94305. It should be at the post office on campus.
