I just submitted my Early Decision to Columbia today. And I realized I left off one of my most important/meaningful extracurriculars (literary magazine). Needless to say, I'm quite upset. I don't understand how I forgot to write it down or never realized that it was missing, but obviously I've sent the application in so it's too late for this. But is it not possible to edit the Common App so that, once I inevitably get rejected and move on to other colleges, they will be able to see that extracurricular? It appears as if I can't...

I think you can contact them in some way and tell them you accidentally left it off. A lot of people send additional credentials if they achieve them after sending their application - winning a competition, for example - and notify their colleges, so I don’t see why you couldn’t do the same.

If you go into common app, there are instructions on how to duplicate your current common app into a new account. Then you can use the new account for the remainder of the submissions to other colleges. It doesn’t sound that difficult, but follow the directions carefully so that you don’t accidentally delete in the wrong order, or your recommenders could need to resubmit.

Let us know how it goes! I have read about this process on the board, but have never done it.

Sorry i didn’t mean new account. It would still be your account but it would be a duplicate application. You can’t change it for the colleges who have already received your common app, but that would help for the other schools.
