Upward grade trends

kind of the same dilemma for me… i only really want to go to haas and will work very hard to maintain a 4.0 but have ucla as my backup. i figure with a 4.0 i’d probably get into ucla biz econ anyway but i just don’t know… would TAP help with my admission to haas at all? i expect to be pretty busy with clubs/ecs so i’m not sure if i’d be able to handle the extra work and maintain the gpa.

woot, finally a member.

Quite silly to assume you will get into UCLA with a 4.0- lots of biz econ people with 4.0 get rejected.

holistic approach to admissions means you have to be well rounded, GPA is not enough.

The only reason i suggested TAP to the OP is b/c his gpa will be on the low side.

yes it is silly to assume you would get in with a 4.0. but jfk didn’t, jfk said “probably” get in. i’m willing to bet if you have a 4.0 you have over a 50% chance of being accepted. which would make the statement correct.

decisions decisions! TAP would definitely not raise my GPA! :(

How much do you think TAP would hurt you, gpa wise

You can just take your time and do only 1/2 honors courses a quarter/semester. And with the honors contracts VS. honors courses it is really not that hard to write an extra two papers or something. Dont overload your schedule and just take your time.

I’d probably have to do 3 per quarter for 2 quarters along with another class
I don’t consider myself a 4.0 student, but I know I can pull off 3.8’s without honors courses
It’s just the 3.15 1st semester killed me and only UCLA will care about TAP while the others will look at my lower GPA
Kinda hard to say though, I’ve never taken a TAP course. I got B’s in AP classes in high school (but right now B’s aren’t good enough)

If you can get 3.8ish without TAP, you can get it with TAP. Your chances will be a lot better too

Probably; If I do TAP I’ll have to do 2 more courses
so 2 summer, 5 fall, 3 winter, 5 spring
and this is on quarter system too

why would you do that to yourself? Do you not want to go to a good school?

Why cant you just take a normal course load and get a 4.0 instead of risking it all to finish early and get less than a 4.0

It is better to be a well rounded applicant, to have some ECs, work experience, than to take 5 courses a quarter.

Because I have 1 year left to complete tap, pre reqs, igetc-
Im not staying an extra year
